Read my remark more carefully. That is not what I said.

If he’s got wealth, how about he and Noor finance a rehab clinic for victims of terror. At Hadassah of Mt. Scopus, one world-class hospital. He could do the same in New York and LA at other prestigious hospitals. Talk is good, but cheap.

Will boost prices of his art work. Maybe Hunter should try dying young, too.

Hunter should try avoiding dying young, but the way he’s lived his life, we probably won’t.

Fine. Plenty of artists in various genres were done in by drug habits. He shouldn’t hold back on our account. It’ll give daddy something to talk about with families of the next set of casualties he causes, AND boost sales.

He isn’t personally wealthy. The Bin Ladin family is. If he was a loyal family member, he would never want for anything. By flipping the finger to dad, he lost that access.

And again. He never did anything wrong. His only obligation is to live his own decent life.

You don’t run around correcting all your fathers mistakes... do you?

As long as Joe gets a cut, he’s in favor of whatever it is.

If my father were a slave owner or a Nazi, I’d feel some obligation to make amends, to the extent that I’m able. It looks like Omar is doing that at least symbolically by traveling to Israel. But “running around” is a bad choice of words, and so is the word “mistakes”. Eichman and bin Laden didn’t just make “mistakes”. They deliberately set out to kill as many people as possible. One should be conscience of one’s heritage. Just like a father can leave you a fortune in property, he can leave you to deal with a vast legacy of iniquity that you can and should deal with.

Going back to the scriptoral quotes, the Talmud teaches that G-d does not punish children for the sins of the father, so long as they do not take up their fathers’ misdeeds. Eichmann’s oldest sons carried on their father’s tradition, and remained avowed Nazis. The youngest was, I think, an engineer and publicly renounced his father. He did not take up his father’s misdeeds, and even rejected them. But the deeds remain. The dead are still dead, their stolen gold teeth still smelted into gold bars. That’s a whole lot of bad karma, and some sort of effort ought to be made to counterbalance it.

I’d distinguish that semi-obligation on direct descendants of evildoers from the idiocy of CRT, that holds all white people responsible for slavery and Jim Crow and condemns them irreversibly, and all the evil that flows from it. Basically, it’s Nazism with a different master race, looking to inflict fresh crimes on humanity. But some sort of balancing of the books ought to be at least attempted by the direct descendants of mass murderers. Not because anyone’s forcing it or demanding it, but because that’s the right thing to do. Karma and all that.

Talmud and Karma?

Make up your mind, are we Israeli or Hindu?

Karma is a Hindu concept, but with a great deal of truth to it. Our merits and sins are to be weighed tomorrow on a scale in the heavenly court. You want to call that “karma,” I won’t stop you.

That doesn’t mean you have to worship a blue adolescent with six arms who’s always standing on one leg. But that parallels somewhat Yehezkel’s vision of heavenly angels. They have only one leg, have six wings and no head and are constantly rushing forward and falling back. A good deal of kabala goes into that imagery and that of the Divine Chariot.

The Hindus, I think, saw an actual angel, and worshipped it, mistaking it for G-d, just as Samson’s parents at first thought they should offer a burnt sacrifice to the man who came to them to tell them of the coming of their super-powered son. When he told them to offer it up to G-d, and then ascended to heaven in the flame of their sacrifice, there was a major freak out.

Hindus and Jews were exposed to similar phenomena. Jews concluded that it was all emanations of the One G-d. Hindus concluded that everybody is a god to a greater or lesser degree, and a part of the unfathomable hierarchy of the Divine Cosmos. But a sense of cosmic justice is shared between both beliefs. You can call it Karma, or you can call it the decision of the One True Judge, but the two concepts are not that far removed from each other, and not mutually exclusive.

Sorry, doesn't cut the muster with me. The deliberate , calculated and fiendish murder of some 3,000 innocent people can never be forgiven. Not in this world. 9/11. Never Forget. And Never Forgive.

If indeed religion is the opiate of man kind than Islam is heroin.
