Not to mention that the only person shot dead that day was
an unarmed woman who posed no real threat, was not warned,
and was executed in cold blood even though she was in a
hallway, and not a room occupied by elected officials.
The whitewash by the Department of Justice and others of what was obviously an unjustified killing is really outrageous. We have videos and can see for ourselves what happened. When interviewed by Lester Holt, the shooter Byrd told blatant and easily demonstrable lies in an attempt to justify the killing. Some examples:
Holt: So when the crowd tries to work its way through the door, which we've seen on video clips, do you feel like you are running out of options?
Byrd: We we were already limited in the options that we had. Once we barricaded the doors, we were essentially trapped where we were. Uh there was no way to retreat. Uh, no other way to uh get out ah because we had did both sides of that corridor. So you are essentially trapped.
He's lying. There's no barricade at the other end of the corridor. Look at that open door -- image.
Byrd: We had a few members that are um I don't want to say disabled or uh have, you know, limitations as far as being able to run or move fast, and some of those individuals were ah directly in the lobby [Speaker's Lobby -- the hall or corridor beyond the barricade] with me at the time of the incident.
He's lying. Where are they -- image?
And Byrd was not the last line of defense, at least four policemen are visible behind him, including one who walked out the open door at the other end of the hall and part of the way down the stairs (which had provided a way to evacuate for the members) -- NBC video, that is, Sullivan's video.
