Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer gives retirement hint amid progressive call for him to step down so Biden can appoint replacement
Daily Mail ^

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, 83, said he doesn't 'intend to die on the court', in a hint toward retirement

Progressives are pushing Breyer to step down so President Joe Biden can appoint a younger, liberal replacement

Breyer also warned against court packing despite a 6-3 conservative majority

'If the Democrats can do it, the Republicans can do it,' he told NPR

President Biden has set up a commission to look at reforming the Supreme Court

But Breyer said more justices could likely cause people to lose trust in the court

The party has expressed anxiety that the justice could hold on until 2024, a Republican could potentially become president and then Breyer could end up dying in the next four years and be replaced by a conservative justice.

Gee, I wonder why the Dems could possibly be concerned about 2024 ?

They’re worried about the midterms. They know they are in trouble.

Well, if the senile old perv gets to send up a SCOTUS replacement for Breter we still have that 6-3 majority, at least theoretically

They're not concerned. There's no way that mail in balloting will be done away with...meaning we'll never have another fair and honest election. Last January SCOTUS gave Rat Party Headquarters the word that there are no rules when it comes to elections. And we can rest assured that the Rats got the message.

Why would you be concerned when you can just stop counting votes?

If they were confident, I doubt you would have seen the angry Coof speech Xiden gave.

“I wonder why the Dems could possibly be concerned about 2024?”

I doubt it. 2024 is a long ways away. Right now the dems are in the catbird seat and will welcome opportunities to put extremists on the court.

I don’t think the court is 6/3 on a lot of things, unless it’s
6/3 against us.

Smirking Roberts was a total waste. Then again, George W. Bush was a total waste.

As my namesake would say: "That scarcely seems possible, Sir." :)

I’m no fan of Bush, but we have to do a better job of vetting
our SCOTUS picks.

I think Trump got blind sided also.

Our presidents don’t know these judges. They get recommendations
and those very suspect at this point.

McConnell doesn’t do his job either.

He could have some say in this and protect the nation. He
just caves.

“Send me a Ginsberg, I’ll get her through”, seems to be his
operating goal.

Too old. They'll want a judge in their forties who will sit on the bench for forty years.

Big deal. A Biden liberal for a Daddy Bush liberal. No changes.

The Democrats ain’t that smart. Definitely not as smart as they think they are. But then again, even they can’t force someone to retire.

I wonder how much pressure they put in RBG. It would be interesting to know.

Could have been her arrogance or stubbornness out of hatred for President Trump, probably never know.

But because of that there are 6 “alleged Conservatives” on the court instead of just 5 “alleged Conservatives”.

There is no 6-3 conservative majority. Not with the liberal voting Roberts on the court.

Not really. Even if they lose the House they will still control the weak Republicans.

I dont think so. Both picks were Constitutional solid, they are just balless under Roberts. He is the real problem.
