Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell is pouring cold water on new reporting from Bob Woodward, detailed in the Washington Post Tuesday, that General Mark Milley vowed to give China a heads up if President Donald Trump ordered an attack.
He's also dismissing calls from Alexander Vindman, the "whistleblower" behind Trump's first impeachment over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for Milley to resign.
From the Washington Post's reporting on Woodward's book:
In the book’s account, Milley went so far as to pledge he would alert his counterpart in the event of a U.S. attack, stressing the rapport they’d established through a backchannel. “General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.”
Believing that China could lash out if it felt at risk from an unpredictable and vengeful American president, Milley took action. The same day, he called the admiral overseeing the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the military unit responsible for Asia and the Pacific region, and recommended postponing the military exercises, according to the book. The admiral complied.
Milley also summoned senior officers to review the procedures for launching nuclear weapons, saying the president alone could give the order — but, crucially, that he, Milley, also had to be involved. Looking each in the eye, Milley asked the officers to affirm that they had understood, the authors write, in what he considered an “oath.”
Woodward thinks he has to work some big revelation into every book and if I can’t find one he will make one up. Still, Milley has probably done a lot of other crazy stuff.

You can take 98% of what Richard Grenell says to the bank. Bob Woodward has out lived his journalist welcome on his one story.
Either way Milley’s about to get a big barrel full of karma for thirteen troops he helped to get murdered.

Question now is this: Who is the replacement? Who do they want after shoveling the Afghan debacle on Miley?

All Milley has the authority to do is confirm that it was indeed the President who gave the order.
To be totally honest, after everything I’ve seen in the past 2 years, I don’t really care if they are “gossip and innuendo” or not. If it can get rid of this piece of s#it Milley, I’m all for it. What’s fair against Trump is fair against the other side, and don’t lecture me about taking the high road or “that’s not who we are” - because assholes like Milley are wrecking the nation and need to be stopped. By whatever means necessary.
I can’t stand Milley- but Grenell has seemed to be a straight shooter. It’s possible Grenell was out of the loop enough by then he didn’t know...
We’ll see..let this simmer a bit.

Either Milley did this and Obama’s praetorian guard, the NSC, is denouncing him which dooms him or he didn’t do it and the regime has loosed it’s media jackals upon him which also means doom. Get the popcorn if they get this hack back in front of a senate committee. I think he’s a dead man walking now. He’s not falling on his sword but the regime will have no qualms about putting that sword in his back. Other than Joe, there’s no better fall guy.
That was my first impression as well. What was the net effect of the “leak”? To cause emotional response. If you are correct, then I suspect that Biden is angling to blame the military for the fiasco in Afghanistan. The deep state has been laying that trap by continuing the mantra of ‘twenty long years’ of misrepresentations to the citizenry. Someone has to hang, and Milley is disliked by both sides. What better ‘patsy’ could there be? In fact, he might even volunteer to be the patsy, in order to be the fall guy for the deep state.
I thought that Bob Woodward was a political hack when he was writing about Nixon and Watergate.
The more I learn about Milley the more I believe that he is unfit. It is time for him to resign. His poor judgement has resulted in much damage to our country both here and abroad.
For this kind of story (notifying China if America strikes) to suddenly be floating out, I would say someone on the Left wants Milley out or discredited.
It’s an accusation that is as vicious as it is believeable.
I already have a low opinion of Milley’s ‘leadership skills’.

That being said, I am not fan of Milley.
The WP and CNN just don’t denounce a member of Team Biden unless they’ve been told to do so. The guy’s toast. They’ll dirty him up a bit with the CCP connection and then nail his behind to an Afghan cross. They will try to absolve the regime by placing ALL blame on Milley. “Oh no, ten Americans beheaded in Kabul”. That damn Milley, Trump’s guy, all his fault. The Chinese Gang of Four dodge.

If you disagree with your commander, you tell him. If he issues an illegal order, you refuse. IF and WHEN you receive that order.
You DO NOT open a channel and begin negotiating with the enemy because you think he might issue an illegal order at some time in the future.
