President Joe Biden’s newly issued mandate that companies with 100 or more employees must require vaccinations or weekly COVID-19 testing among their workforce may be just what the doctor ordered for a number of Chicago-area companies, including WeatherTech, the southwest suburban car floor mat manufacturer.
The company, which has 1,700 employees on its sprawling Bolingbrook, Ill., campus making everything from dog bowls to cellphone holders, has no vaccine or testing mandates in place, despite having “several very sick employees” and one death from COVID-19, according to WeatherTech founder and CEO David MacNeil.
MacNeil, a strong proponent of COVID-19 vaccinations for his employees, said the legal landscape for imposing a company mandate was unknown — at least before Biden announced his proposed mandate Thursday.

I will not comply. Fire me. I do not care. But then, I was about to retire anyway. :-)
That's the number before 40% quit in protest to being jabbed.
I’ve been to the factory showroom. The custom made mats are excellent at keeping water off the carpet and they seem to never show wear.
I’m frustrated at his COVID stance, but the mats are worthwhile, especially with the AAA discount.
“The Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (84 Stat. 1590 et seq., 29 U.S.C. 651 et seq.) requires, in part, that every employer covered under the Act furnish to his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.”

Ms. Covid Vaccine Holdout works for Big Bank, with 3000 employees, at its Smalltown branch along with one other employee, who was fully vaccinated against Covid.
Is that other employee likely to suffer death or serious physical harm if Ms. Covid Vaccine Holdout continues working at that branch, Secretary Walsh?
Is it not true that your vaccination mandate is too broad, Secretary Walsh?
If the mandates come, sue the sh*t out of McNeil as an individual.
How?
It’s strictly precatory on his part, a legal nullity ab initio.
“Just what the doctor ordered” says this cutesy poo idiot.
“every employer covered under the Act
furnish to his employees
employment and a place of employment
which are free from recognized hazards
that are causing or are likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to his employees.”
There’s a requirement that the “employment and a place of employment” be “free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.”
No Covid vaccine used in the USA is “free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm.”
I’ve read various estimates of the risk of death Covid vaccines and they were in range of 1 to 7 per million patients.
I personally believe Covid vaccines are worth the risk for those persons now recommended to get them (mainly because their really serious side effects probably are due to the spike protein and probably also come with a Covid infection), but they are not “free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm”.
Employer Covid vaccination mandates might be beneficial but they seem to be illegal.
My personal income is threatened. I am Covid-recovered, literally no need for any vax. I will not take the jab - praying and pondering what to do.
Ya know when hospitals and stores start to close because there are not enough people to run them where will his precious illegals go for treatment? Many of them are here for free healthcare.
I read that dementia Joe wants the US to be a “sanctuary country”. He is doing that well. S/O
Imagine a contractor requiring its employees working on construction sites to use a specific type of hardhat manufactured by a company that can't be sued if its design is defective.
The whole thing is a joke, when you look at the obvious legal pitfalls like this.
Just publicly ask the HR department that if a person is forced to take the shot to keep their job and something happens, does the company accidental death and dismemberment policy cover it. I am sure they will say no but that ought to anger enough employees to cause trouble.
They’re an experimental drug, MacNeil.
I’ll be sure not to buy your products.
Me too. I have about 10 years left to retirement, but I can always go to work remotely for a smaller company, or as a consultant. I SURE won’t take the ClotShot, and I SURE ain’t giving them my DNA every week. I no longer trust ANYONE in the medical industry.
“I’ve read various estimates of the risk of death Covid vaccines and they were in range of 1 to 7 per million patients.”
Wow, that implies a total of only a few hundred deaths have happened and will happen in the US because of the vaccines. VAERS data must be useless.
Sue for wrongful termination.
Discovery is a beitch.
Probably died from being around a leaky vaxxed drone.
