BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The boyfriend of Gabby Petito, whose body was found at a national park in Wyoming after a cross-country trip with him, was charged with unauthorized use of a debit card as searchers continued looking for him Thursday in Florida swampland.
A federal grand jury indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Wyoming alleges Brian Laundrie used a Capital One Bank card and someone’s personal identification number to make unauthorized withdrawals or charges worth more than $1,000 during the period in which Petito went missing. It does not say who the card belonged to.
FBI spokeswoman Courtney Bernal declined to reveal the nature of the charges made to the debit card.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said an arrest warrant issued Wednesday over the alleged fraudulent use of the bank card will allow law enforcement across the country to continue pursuing Laundrie while the investigation continues into Petito’s homicide.

He is in trouble now!
Well it wasn’t mamma’s card. And somebody had to pay for the gas on the interstate drive back.
I seriously hope this guy is caught alive and rots in max.
Hey they got Capone on tax evasion.
Dear FIB:
Catch him if you can.
Is he really worse than Comey or The Fey Wray?
Right now, he’s missing, so these charges only amount to somebody yelling at clouds in the sky.
how bout the library... anything there?
I wonder if this will continue so long we tune everything else out or get sick of hearing about the case.
Her van. Her visa card. Her vlog.
This is a clever move by the feds. Ups the ante and brings more pressure on him and anyone helping him (cough-cough parents).
I’ve followed this casually and got to wondering about the search in the reserve. The state, local and feds are spending a fortune in man- hours, resources and various eqipment in HOT and HUMID Florida, day after day. I keep thinking, is there more to this story than the public knows? Is this kid suspected of other major crimes? Or??? I can’t quite put my finger on it- but this case seems so strange.
Stinchfield pointed out—correctly—that much of the interest in the case was because she was a cute white “hottie”.
He showed a gallery of black and brown women gone missing for whom there has been minimal—if any—national interest.
Just sayin’
Bunk. We’ve been overwhelmed with crimes against blacks since Tawana Brawley. We all know Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, St George Floyd, the Duke LaCrosse case and MANY more. When was the last time a white girl got this much press? Natalie Holloway comes to mind. The Casey Anthony case. There’s not many.
And the two of them joined at the hip, sharing everything, for years...
The Feds don’t give a crap about the illicit use of a credit card in a murder case. Their real targets here are his parents and lawyer.
There is likely some truth to that- but I also think the behavior of Brian and his parents attracted attention. Once Twitter and Reddit got going it just took off.
Regardless, my curiousity is about the enormous scope of the search in the 25,000 acre reserve.
Not years. They knew one another in HS and hooked up romantically just recently.
Just a legal reason to handcuff him on sight.
Send in the Federal Marshalls, they always get their man!
Black people done in by other black people (which is nearly all those black people abducted or murdered) get no press at all. The only overwhelming interest is in cases that can be used for political purposes, which means cases where the perpetrator can be said to be white (even if it is a stretch).
Pretty white women though attract interest regardless of political context.
If his parents are helping him financially to hide, the Feds just made it a crime. It may flush him out.
Besides the two that I named and OJ's wife, what other "pretty white women" have dominated news cycles? It's all race grievance crap. And usually fake.
