There was a Swedish group who came up (several years ago) with some insider info on cellphones that you could get App loaded up which would turn the smart-phone into a Radio Frequency delivery situation...making it more dangerous to operate. I’m likely to believe that hackers figured this out and have targeted embassy personnel via this method.
The fact that the American regime still keeps spooks in Austria says alot about the empire.
Every nation spies on Americas, not just our government. It is acceptable practice.

Turn your phone off, place on shelve for phones, before entering the Controlled Access Areas. Too many supervisors actually take their phones into IPC/ISC and make calls which is forbidden.
The 5FAM should be updated to include actual inventory of personnel using smart watches or other electronic devices that sync to other electronic devices - the 5FAM is self-policing and includes anyone in the organization pointing out such devices and removal from the CAA.
Too many State Department Officers/Specialists (vaunted 15,000 auth by congress but filled at a rate of around 19,000) were caught by me using iPhones/iPods, other electronic devices and radios at State to make me sick - they know the rules but even the supervisors conveniently disregard openly the 5FAM.
For instance in Hong Kong, the IPO used his phone in IPC and it PO’d him to be told. He carried his phone in CAA areas always, and made calls. The real problem with a boss like this is that the other guy in IPC then started talking his phone into the vault and other CAA areas as well. (Everyone on FR knows of Hillary’s multiple Blackberrys, lost phones, etc. Her aide Huma carried her personal laptop into the 7th floor suite and had an illegally installed model line and was transmitting both unclass and classified from it - later it became the Weiner laptop).
You cannot stop the Smartest People in the Room (Country in their own opinions) from doing what they want.
Leftists have horrible records as a whole for breaking rules.
Additionally it well known within the IRM/sister agencies that CHINA likes to put a laser beam into US Workspaces - this is probably why we are having the problems. This kind of BS is unacceptable.
On another note, MOLD is major problem within the walls of the overseas missions.
