On point? The job of the press, supposedly anyway, is to ask the questions the government doesn’t want to answer.

They are running a deficit even before the $5 trillion they want to jam through. But it’s still “off point”. They don’t need to raise the debt ceiling or raise taxes; and neither would shut down the government or put us into ‘default’.
All it will mean is that a greater portion of the taxes collected now has to go to debt service. That means less money for politicians to allocate. I don’t have a problem with that.
