College needs to go. It should be as simple as showing up and writing all the necessary tests an industry needs to show competence and, upon passing with a sufficient grade, give the applicant a job.
That's how it used to be.
Then the Supreme Court decreed, in Griggs v Duke Power(1970) that any test which has blacks passing at a lower rate than whites is illegal discrimination. So companies instead started demanding college degrees.
Pass a law that says testing is not illegal discrimination, and the whole college establishment comes crashing down.
I agree. However, the Griggs vs. Duke Power case about 50 years ago made it extremely difficult to do this as the aptitude tests had a "disparate impact" on minorities. So now a college degree is used in place of such tests.
