Kentucky Republican wants to redirect proposed Afghanistan aid to finance Israel's missile defense system
In the latest hurdle to Israel receiving $1 billion in funding to replenish its Iron Dome missile defense system after May's Gaza conflict, Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky has blocked swift passage of the bill, Politico reports.
The lawmaker is an opponent of US foreign aid and is insisting that the Iron Dome money be offset by redirecting financial assistance for Afghanistan.
“He proposed that we pay for the House bill with money that is going to go to the Taliban,” a spokeswoman for the Kentucky senator told Politico.

To be honest, Israel is pretty astute. We have given them
a lot to think about with Clinton, Obama, and now Biden.

Makes sense to me. Yeah, Paul may be grandstanding a bit, but I like his approach to government. More power to him.

Israel is beset upon by many interests in the Middle East. We are it’s main ally.
Please outline in what manner or respect Israel is an ally of the United States.

If we are ever going to get out of the crap we are in, it is going to require divine intervention, and the best way to keep that intervention from happening is to tell Israel to go pound Palestinian sand and let the missiles fly. Israel was not under god’s people’s control from 1 A.D. till late 1940s and we did pretty well.

Personally I think the Iron Dome is worth financing. We gain from it. The world gains from it. The Palestinians and Israelis gain from it as does the entire region. But he’s not wrong. It should be paid for by cutting something wasteful.

And as for “hey, we spy on them too”, there is one huge difference. They never pay our bills.
