Gantz to Abbas: I want to be the new Rabin
Israel National News ^ | 3/10/21

Defense Minister Benny Gantz told Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas during their recent meeting that he wants to be “the new Rabin”, Channel 12 News reported on Friday.

According to the report, PA cabinet leader Mohammad Shtayyeh relayed details of the meeting between Gantz and Abbas in a recent meeting with Arab Israeli activists and journalists.

Gantz told Abbas, according to Shtayyeh, “I believe in the two-state solution and believe is the appropriate solution. I want to be the new Rabin, but this government has limitations.”

Abbas, for his part, told Gantz that “if the current [Israeli] government does not want to accept the two-state solution on the basis of the [pre-]1967 borders, we will work to promote another solution – the Partition Plan from 1947.”

The Defense Minister's Office said in response that the quote from Gantz’s meeting with Abbas was "inaccurate" but would not elaborate.

A senior official in the government criticized Gantz following his meeting with Abbas, saying he “only cares about his own political interests” and “is behaving like a government within a government.”

Apparently, he forgets what happened to Rabin, who did not deserve it. Abbas seems to think he can demand unconditional surrender on his terms. But that's the PA for you.

I believe my post was misapplied..I didn’t know Rabin was killed by an extremist Israeli who believed Rabin had conceded too much. I really wish we had an edit function. I thought he was killed by one of the usual suspects.

Exactly what I was thinking.

It’s just magical thinking on the liberals part.

Rabin was not shot by a Pali ....I can’t believe freepers wouldn’t know that

He was shot by a kid wasn’t he

I don’t like this Rabin bashing here

He did a hell of a lot for Israel when the cost was high

Elite Hagganah..Palmach...at super high risk

Although he did some thjngs in the independence war would make trouble in today’s glare

Entebbe

He was leftist..as were 90% of israels founding fathers

He was murdered by a far right student

Nothing to celebrate here..

Rabin gave his life for Israel murdered by a mentally ill fanatic

His wartime contribution is historic

Yours?

Few Jews in Israel of his era were not quasi socialists

But plenty were heroes of the formation and survival of Israel

Tarring them for leftism which was endemic in Israel founders baring few

Is no different than tarring our founders with slavery

Even Likud then was left leaning by our notions

Their conservatism was more nationalist and strength and religious....than political ideology

understood but
it sure will be nice if the Jewish people can figure out how to effectively deal with the Enemy Within (in any generation) erev rav

before these evil people can inflict or cause any more damage

there must be a way

Oslo, my friend.
Oslo was a disaster and this was obvious from the start

the enemy remains in Occupation of Israeli land, especially the strategic high ground (and historically most significant Jewish areas)

and the enemy continues to launch all kinds of attacks and threats, and to train more terrorist murder thugs

enough already

If you figure out the way, short of murder, let me know. Practice on leftards until you find something that works.

There is much to say about Rabin’s accomplishments, but, in the minds of many people, they were all tarnished when he broke with the policy of not negotiating with terrorists. This was folly, will always be folly and it ended up costing the lives of thousands of Jews-the full butcher’s bill has not been paid even now, almost thirty years later. In a word, his hands are soaked in blood.

Like so many men in history, his disastrous, fatal error is not redeemed by whatever he did that was good. Same thing goes for Sharon: a great fighter, he committed the most horrific blunder, believing that the heirs of Hitler want peace with the Jewish people. He died in utter disgrace.

I don’t have to measure up to their accomplishments to make perfectly sound factual conclusions about their legacy.
