Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking him to clarify what he meant by a crackdown on the “harassment” of school officials in his recent memo, warning that the directive could stifle parents’ constitutional right to free speech, according to a report.
“In it you directed federal law enforcement to partner with state and local governments to address ‘threats of violence, and other forms of intimidation and harassment’ of ‘school administrators, board members, teachers and staff’ in public schools,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a letter to the attorney general on Friday, according to a Fox News report.

If even the “moderates” in the GOP find Garland’s action a step way too far, it might have some effect on the Dem party, because I think there are some there who (while still leftists) are a little concerned about the blatant extremism and authoritarianism of the Biden administration. But they’re terrified of the more radical left.

He’s just making noises to make people believe he is not working to assist the Democrats in their destruction.
That's the idea.
This effort was fully coordinated with or, more likely, developed by the administration. DOJ had its response all ready to go just a few days after the “National School Boards Association” demanded federal action. Will the FBI now send agents to school board meetings to "protect" members from the dangerous opinions of dissenting parents?
And all of that can be countered by a legitimate Sheriff, Governor, State Legislature or combination thereof. If the people have one or all three of those entities, then if Garland and his folk decide to investigate anyone, a simple statement by the Governor and/or legislature stating the school board is being dismantled and replaced by someone appointed by the Governor or State Education Dept, until a new board can be elected and seated. The Sheriff telling the DOJ and FBI that anyone that comes to arrest one of these people, will also be arrested by the Sheriff.
Because all of this, as you and I both know, is intimidation. Anything and everything that happens at these board meetings is a local issue, to be dealt with locally. I’m sure an investigation would show that folks on the boards reached out to someone higher up the food chain, who in turn reached out to someone higher and eventually they got an audience with someone in the DOJ or White House, because of the pushback and they ain’t happy about it.
Nothing more than petulant kids who aren’t getting their way so they run to momma.

I don't want ANYBODY in Congress stepping up to this one. This one is for the people confronting the school boards to handle. When push conmes to shove, McConnell is going to side with government bureaucrats. That's his side.
