GOP’s loyalty to Trump has has the party in a ‘death spiral’, says former US cybersecurity chief

The former head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Christopher Krebs, said that the Republican Party was in a “death spiral” owing to its allegiance to former President Donald Trump.

Mr Krebs, who famously contradicted Mr Trump’s claims about widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election before being terminated from his post last year, is a self-described lifelong member of the GOP. On Sunday, he spoke with CBS’s Face the Nation about his party and the former president’s ongoing efforts to sow distrust about US voting systems.

“This is a death spiral. They’ve lost control, and they don’t know how to rein it back in,” said Mr Krebs.

“I mean, it’s captured by the base, right?” he added of the party. GOP leader, Mr Krebs said, are “afraid to speak up, because they’re afraid the former president is gonna try to primary them. And the other piece is they’ve activated and lost control of their voting base. The people that’ve put them in power.”

While under the leadership of Mr Krebs in the days following the 2020 election, CISA released a statement refuting many of Mr Trump’s claims about the security of US voting systems and declared: “The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.”

This is a BUREAUCRAT opining about ELECTIVE politics.

They're losing their grip on who gets into elective positions (and then appointive positions) and they don't like it at all.

He’s really complaining because the Bush-Cheney-McCain-Romney factions are in a death spiral, and he doesn’t like that the rest of the party is moving on.

The country is in a death spiral.

Trump was the only one who stood up to stop it.

Most of the Bush League Republicans in Congress are assisting the Democrats to kill the Republic.

Good. The GOP-E needs to be in a death spiral. The party of George W, Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney has betrayed conservatives so many times there's no longer any point in counting. If the GOP is to survive and thrive, it needs to be as the party of the people, not the country club/big business/perpetual war a-holes.

The GOP has “allegiance” to Donald Trump?

I must have missed the memo.

News flash for Mr. Krebs: There is no party without the base and the leaders are elected by the base.

I think they understand things very well.

You need to listen to what they say more carefully.

The election is a litmus test for republicans. If you don’t agree that the election was at the very least not transparent. If you let ballots come in the middle of the night, don’t check signatures and don’t show the ballots afterwards and relax the ID requirements, and don’t match ballots with their wards and if you don’t follow the laws of the state and the US constitution then you are not a republican we can count on. And a bad republican is worse than no republican. They do damage by taking the replace of a good republican.

The GOPee had no discernible, viable life activity immediately before Trump.

“GOP’s loyalty to Trump has has the party in a ‘death spiral’, says former US cybersecurity chief”

Democrat’s loyalty to Biden has has the US in a ‘death spiral’

There, fixed it
