Nearly 40 percent of Americans say they’ve experienced serious financial problems over the past few months and almost 70 percent are worried about their children falling behind in school, according to a new national poll.
After growing optimism over the summer that the worst of the pandemic had passed, the resurgence of the virus with the ultra-contagious Delta variant has brought the march back to normal to a halt in some cases — especially when it comes to households struggling with finances.
The reports of economic struggles come even as 67 percent of households surveyed said they’d received financial help from the government in the past few months.
And it’s not just pain in the pocketbook: People surveyed said they also worried about their children falling behind in schools after a year of lockdown and a stop-and-start re-opening of schools in some cases.

That’s a lot of $400 trips to the emergency room.
The first part is sarcasm. That last sentence might actually be true.
( Delta variant has brought the march back to normal to a halt)
Yeah and that’s why Walmart is closed 7 days a week

Now if only we can make people lose their jobs over not getting a jab for something the overwhelming majority have survived for 1.5-plus years 🤔🤔🤔
let’s go brandon
I’ll see mine when I get my heating oil bill. Got a 500 gallon tank.
I used to think that retiring with a monthly income of at least $10,000 a month would ensure a comfortable retirement. I’m not so sure now.
They killed many small businesses and the jobs that went with them. They tossed kids back home and forced families to try and balance their jobs (if they still had one) with taking care of their kids. They crippled the entertainment and sports industries (I have mixed feelings on this one - a lot of people just work at these venues; they weren’t necessarily part of the woke crowd). They crippled most sit-down restaurants, sending people to fast food joints (just what we needed - eat more unhealthy food and increase the obese rates).
Past few months…..

It’s almost like there’s a common theme here.
A common word to all these.
Hmmmmm…..
What could it be?
Yep, I retired four years ago, my wife retired two months ago.
There is NOTHING like retiring into an out-of-control inflationary environment. It’s our worst nightmare come true.
I am a landscaper. #1 complaint I hear from prospective clients is no one wants to work, because they can make more money sitting at home. [This works in my favor, partly because my trained crew are teenagers who have no unemployment to fall back on.]
Biden’s name is all over this entire situation.
As a reference point, what percentage of people are struggling in a normal year, like 2019?
I guess it depends on where you live, but $5,000 a month should have been a comfortable retirement. I guess it depends on how one would define "comfortable". Regardless, high inflation is going to be a problem for retirees not sitting on a decent investment pile or don't have a sizable fixed monthly income (SS, pension, annuity, etc.).
Our retirement plan is working til we drop...or age 80, whichever comes first.
All according to the Pinko-Dims plans.
You gonna have to take out a 2nd mortgage to fill that baby up.
Remember the articles not too long ago claiming 80% or something of people couldn’t weather a financial hit of anything over $400?
10k a month should be more than adequate provided one does not retire too early and or does not take debt into retirement. Living within means in retirement is crucial for a happy one. I am retired on far less than 10k a month. We vacation a few weeks away, eat out often. We do that on no debt and vehicles 10 years old.
