Steele and GPS Fusion did EXACTLY what they were paid to do. The democrat strategy wasn’t perfect; Trump still got elected. But it bogged his presidency down for almost the whole 4 years.
For those that don’t know, the GPS Fusion business model is to dig up dirt on the customers’ opponents, and then use their media contacts to get the information, real if possible, fake if necessary, but always blown out proportion, published in at least semi-credible publications. If everyone remembers, they actually had a hard time getting the “dossier” published and finally got some third rate publication to do so. That allowed the mainstream media to report on not the actual dossier, but the fact that someone else had published the dossier. That way, if it blew up immediately, the mainstream guys would have plausible deniability.
