It is only a matter of time before China's plan to replace the United States as the world's preeminent military becomes reality, a top U.S. general warned, calling on the Washington and its allies to speed efforts to counter Beijing’s bid for dominance.
General John Hyten, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Washington’s second-most-senior military officer, called the rapid rise of the Chinese military “stunning.”
“The pace they're moving and the trajectory that they're on will surpass Russia and the United States if we don't do something to change it," he told the Defense Writers Group on Thursday, responding to a question from VOA.

Not worried. All the trannies will save us. They certainly will have the “fuglies” to scare all those Chicoms away. And who could resist a force being led by a fat, stupid, and completely politically correct talking anys like Small Willie Milley?
Just for perspective purposes.
Well placed large weaponry can change a lot of these “claims”. Lot of cannon fodder. Just as the US found in the Korean war-— walls of meat targets.
They march real purty— in straight suicidal cannon fodder lines. Good piece. PR crap. The Japanese are NOT scared of the PLA and are ramping up. Our allies in the Pac are paying attention.
Past and present...we have the dumbest damn leaders ever up in D.C.
Corporate America CEO’s are traitors for outsourcing to a communist country that is technically our enemy all for the almighty $$$.
The greatest transfer of wealth in world history from the American middle class to the communist Chinese.
This was, is and will be a huge national security issue if/when we ever enter a military conflict with the communist Chinese.
Then it’ll be...so, America, how’ya lovin that cheap Chinese crap now.
Shameful
Never happen (sarc). I was told last week by some here chyna is near economic collapse and their military will never meet ours
Meanwhile evergrande paid their debt payment last and 73.5% of US companies in a recent Reuters survey say they plan to increase their business in chyna and exports from chyna to the US are at their greatest level in history even with the tarrifs.
Too many people here have their head in the sand regarding chyna or are paid posters from Beijing most likley.
What war has China won in the last century?
5.56mm
I have seen this exact story since the 1960’s with the Russians being used as a warning up through the very late 80’s and just before the collapse of the USSR
This is all about getting more $
> Corporate America CEO’s are traitors for outsourcing to a communist country that is technically our enemy all for the almighty $$$. <
There is corporate greed, to be sure. But let’s say 10 US companies make widgets. One company outsources production to China. The other 9 will be undercut on price to the extent that they must outsource too, or go broke.
The ultimate blame IMO goes to the politicians who regulate domestic industry to death while at the same time allowing cheap imports from unfriendly nations.
Trump understand all this. So if course he had to go.
We are told that the USA spends more on defense than Russia and China combined, but this General tells us that China in course to surpass the US in military power...
Either this General is lying or we are wasting so much money it’s insane, I suspect we are building a military that is going to fight WW II all over again, instead of a war of the 21st Century....
China is building hypersonic missiles that circle the globe ready to deliver a nuke on command, meanwhile we are busy demanding troops get a covid vaccine and generals who are complaining about french manicures....
hell, my bookie coulda told me that... and with odds
“I have seen this exact story since the 1960’s with the Russians being used as a warning up through the very late 80’s and just before the collapse of the USSR”
The US did not send 70,000 US factories to the USSR and have soviet students in our most top secret prime R&D laboratories on college campus across the USA.
From your other china apologist post I am convinced you are a chinese plant downplaying China. That is all you post.
There is some element of truth in both the original post and Bill Whittle’s commentary.
China has been seeding the press with “Woe is China” stories for decades now. I believe it’s an attempt to keep us from raising the import tariffs.
China has some internal problems, but every problem makes the headlines. In a country of 1.1 billion people you’re going to have some problems.
China has also achieved some great feats militarily. And given their population, the size of their military, and the size their military could become, we shouldn’t be lax about them.
The best thing we could do is raise the import tariffs. That would weaken them and strengthen our own industries.
Hey those $500 coffee makers cost money.
“Meanwhile evergrande paid their debt payment “
LOL sure they did. They borrowed $83 million dollars to make and interest payment to offshore bond holders.
This is like making a mortgage payment on your home using your credit card. If it wasn’t for foreign technology the slanty eyed basta*ds have stolen throughout the last 70 yrs they would all still be either riding in or pulling rickshaws.
So then maybe spending 20 years and trillions of dollars nation building wasn’t such a good thing after all?
The real issue, is USA military failing faster than CCP is rising?
