I don’t know why anyone would consider McAuliffe a “popular” former governor. The guy has been a well-known @sshole for years. If someone with his personality and character had run as a Republican, he’d barely get 35% of the vote.

Things that republicans consider liabilities are strengths in the 'rat party.
