The Jones Act makes a lot of sense for many different reasons, but if I had my way I'd impose a blanket exemption for Hawaii and Alaska. It's absurd to hold a ship traveling across thousands of miles of the Pacific Ocean to the same standards as a barge traveling up the Ohio River.

Due to these Jones Act restrictions, it costs thousands of dollars more to transport a shipping container between Los Angeles and Honolulu than between Los Angeles and China -- even though the ship traveling to China sails past Hawaii.

Sri Lankan President, and a strong China ally, Mahinda Rajapaksa......one doesn’t have to wonder how much of that money or a large bank account somewhere else, made its way to the former President, as he sold his country out to the Chinese. I used to work with Sri Lankans. Phenomenal workers and proud folks. They’re not happy about this and, of course, all done without any knowledge of many. The ones that do/did know, got paid.
