Congressional Democrats are reintroducing legislation that would repay the families of Black American veterans who served in World War II and were unable to take advantage of the original GI Bill.
The GI Bill Restoration Act would provide descendants of these veterans a transferable benefit that could be used to obtain housing, attend college or start a business, according to the announcement Thursday from the bill’s sponsors.
To mark Veterans Day, the bill was unveiled Thursday by House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina and Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts in the House and is expected to be introduced by Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia in the Senate. The Democratic lawmakers said that Black veterans had limited access to GI benefits in the past because most state and local veterans administrations were largely run by white officials.

Ridiculous. GI Bill benefits for the WWII veterans themselves might be OK, but what have their descendants done to qualify?
They can shove their reverse racism and reparations up their asses.

Is there any actual evidence that black GIs were denied veteran’s benefits? Just the fact that these agencies were mostly run by white people seems pretty thin... are whites automatically deemed to be ‘racists’ now?
Some have ‘earned’ the benefits by becoming professional blacks.

I agree with post 5, descendants of WWII vets have had 75+ years to be born, mature and now many have kids/grandkids.
What they do or are is on them, not because of whether their WII ancestor did the GI bill.
My now deceased Dad was a WWII marine who served in the Marshall Islands. He was a smart guy but didn’t do the GI Bill because his father talked him out of it as help was needed in the family heating and sheet metal business. We descendants learned work ethics from him and all of us are middle class now.

Pretty smart wouldn’t you say? How is anyone here going to be against it? Do our enemies pushing it really care about these families? The families are now pretty big now and they have another issue.They will always come up. I’d play their game and give them a small check. Just to the immediate offspring, many of whom are now dead. They did it for some Indians who were part of some treaty a ways back.
What prevented black veterans from accessing their GI bill benefits? Was it for white veterans only? I doubt it. This looks like more manufactured racism.
Meanwhile: If a military member does not get the vaccine, they lose their GI Bill, job, and other benefits.
