--"But as pointed out in a column by Scott McIntosh, the Idaho Statesman’s opinion editor, the shooter could legally own and carry weapons in Idaho despite his felony record. --

--apparently the buffoon writing this is unaware that possession of a firearm by one convicted of a felony is a federal crime--

So there was one incident in Idaho. What a great ides to pass Illinois-style gun laws in Idaho so that they can have a few dozen incidents a day instead. Pure genius.

The “Wild West” or the “Soviet East”?

Guess which the Left prefers.

Most states do not enforce federal law, take marijauna for instance.

But doesn’t defunding the police and ignoring violence and arson lead to unregulated public safety? What do we do then?

Returning to the wild west suits the arsonists and rioters just fine. Except when they try to kill Kyle.

The Wild West was tame compared to today’s Southside Chicago.

I have been of the opinion that all people should be able to carry all firearms openly all the time up to and including automatic weapons.

It would be a polite society.

The lawless west has been seen in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, New York, etc. When you allow rioters to assault and kill people, commit arson, loot and pillage, and won’t let police do their jobs, or hold any of the criminals responsible, you are the wild, Wild West, all over again.

I’d love a return to the Wild West. Where criminals were famous because there were relatively few that survived being shot by their would-be victims.

Where even felons got their Rights restored, and in some cases their guns returned to them, when their incarceration was done. No two-tiered Citizenship.

Where people were much more free from government interference and arbitrary capriciousness from government agents because everyone had at least one gun on the “Frontier”.

Yes... Most definitely... Let’s return to the “wild” West.

“Among the Worst in th3 nation” for “gun safety” !whatever that means?), and they cited 1 example of a shooting?

I woild venture that Chicago, or NY, or NJ etc, with far more strict gun laws is way worse! I see they didn’t bring that fact up

Could someone in Idaho please remind me where the mass shootings occurred at a Country music concert, because folks in Nevada can’t recall.

The Sun didn't do much in the way of research on this one before opening their yaps. If they had, they'd have discovered that Idaho is tied for fourth place with Rhode Island for lowest murder rates in the country. Nevada is 48th out of 50. SOURCE. This "reporter" should have concluded that a little laxity might just be in order here.

The big question is, why is this newspaper still in business?? Thankfully, like most newspapers in America, it is dying. The Nevada Sun won’t be around much longer to print this type of drivel.

“...a gunman killed two innocent people at a Boise shopping mall”

And he could have killed them just as dead had he used black powder cap and ball revolvers and been perfectly entitled to own them by Federal law.

But Nevada is pointing at Idaho after two are murdered? Wasn’t there a shooting in Las Vegas not that long ago that resulted in a lot more deaths? A guy managed to bring up loads of weapons and ammo into a casino hotel without being captured on camera. You know, one of those “we’ll never know the motivation behind the crime” kind of shootings?

Hey, if you are going to defund the police and you are going to let violent criminals back on the streets, then you have to expect vigilante justice will be an option.

People have a fundamental right to self-defense and personal safety.

Police are to help create a climate of public safety from crimes of all kinds. Once society breaks down to the point of random violence, people have a right to protect themselves.

Return to the days of the Wild West would not suit Nevada, or any state (barf alert)

OK, first of all, which Wild West are we talking about? The one with Robert Conrad, or the one with Will Smith?

I'm voting for the Robert Conrad Wild West.
