The judge wants a verdict because a defense verdict cannot be appealed. It ends the case. Mistrials do not. So, he'd like to first see if the jury will simply acquit before having to address the video issue.

The jurors now asking for a copy of the video begs the question of which video to give them. So it might force his hand to declare a mistrial right now, which he'd rather not do.
