The director of Germany’s disease control agency said Thursday the country could have a “really terrible Christmas” if it doesn’t take steps to counter the surge in COVID-19 infections.
Lothar Wieler, director of the Robert Koch Institute, is calling for large events to be canceled and clubs and bars to shut down in order to combat a rise in infections, The Associated Press reported.
Along with the closures, Wieler wants COVID-19 vaccine passports to be used for many public venues and businesses, according to the news service.

New wave, in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands and likely a few more countries. And the authorities seems to think that more vaxx is the answer to vaxx not working.
Ironically there is logic in this approach too! Vaccination and boosters do have short term effect. They can alleviate the current wave a bit -- at the price of having a yet bigger infection wave next year... and this is the usual politician scheme of kicking can down the road!.. nothing new, but deadlier than ever.

It is going up, and the data (incl. daily deaths) is very similar to the picture of one year ago. Thus, they are panicking -- at some point people will realize that measures are not doing much.

Amsterdam has closed almost everything at 8pm every night for another couple of weeks, and most likely the Netherlands will extend the restrictions through Christmas.

Main deviations I see is that Sweden is doing better than others and better than a year ago (least quarantines ?) and Russia is doing very poorly (despite Sputnik which at least is not a kill shot).
