So is defense of others...

Downey: What did we do wrong? We did nothing wrong.
Dawson: Yeah, we did. We were supposed to fight for the people who couldn't fight for themselves. We were supposed to fight for Willie.

Almost every state prosecutes vigorously people who put the value of property above the value of a life, no matter that the thief is a scumbug.

However; abortionists get a pass.

Every single person knowledgeable on the subject will tell you that you should call the cops.

So THEY can shoot the arsonists and protect the community?

I could not help it.

And neither could Kyle!

Fools rush in where angels fear to tred!

Thankfully, his young, foolish impulses did NOT get him injured and have, from all appearances, galvanized a Nation!

You do know Yamato did not make that statement, right? It came from a ‘historian’ who was attached to MacArthur’s HQ - who is known to have written far more propaganda than actual history.

Yamato is not known to have expressed any sentiment resembling this. Ironically, the fake “sleeping giant” statement ascribed to him in the movie Tora, Tora, Tora actually has a tiny basis in fact, but only in the sense of “didn’t think he could win a protracted war against the US” and that’s about it.

The actual Yamato quotes that the Hollywood writers probably pulled from are these.

“Should hostilities once break out between Japan and the United States, it is not enough that we take Guam and the Philippines, nor even Hawaii and San Francisco. To make victory certain, we would have to march into Washington and dictate the terms of peace in the White House. I wonder if our politicians, among whom armchair arguments about war are being glibly bandied about in the name of state politics, have confidence as to the final outcome and are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices.”

“In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain I will run wild and win victory upon victory. But then, if the war continues after that, I have no expectation of success.”

He knew the Japanese were at a huge logistical and resource disadvantage compared to the US and that Japan could not win a protracted war, nor could they support any major force as far away as the West Coast, let alone inland. Pearl Harbor was actually about as far as they could send a significant naval presence and even that was pushing it. He didn’t think war with the US was a good idea, but the Second Amendment didn’t really enter into his calculations as Japan could never have gotten significant troops and support over and support them. The Second Amendment would not have come into play, and he knew that.

Or put another way, he knew the Japanese military ‘car’ didn’t have the fuel to really get to the US, so any concerns about what to do ‘after they got there’ were irrelevant.

Even if he had said it, it was hyperbole.

However; the actuality is this:

"Broaden that out a little bit... What about protecting your community? What about helping the injured? What about making sure a business owner isn’t destroyed?

Can you possibly imagine those as legitimate motives to show up?"

Almost every state prosecutes vigorously people who put the value of property above the value of a life

So you can’t shoot people who are burning your business, much less a business not your own.

You will also find that “protecting your community” is not a valid defense in court.

He wasn't protecting property, he was protecting his life against men who tried to disable, disarm, and possibly kill him.

You're mixing up the apples and the oranges.

Remember, you're the one who said KR never should've been there in the first place. We've given you plenty good reasons for a concerned citizen to be involved. Then when he was attacked, he exercised the right of self defense.

There is a terrible riot going on outside your yard, about a block down the street. People are getting hurt, buildings are burning... would you give your 17 year old son an AR-15 and tell him to go solve the problem...or would you call the cops? And remember, the reason for the trouble is that the city officials are not supporting the cops. The cops are not there because they know they will be stabbed in the back by the mayor and his pals....so you would be sending him into a mess that the cops will not touch. You would not.

Probably most of us would not. But for the brave souls who do go, the least we owe them is our respect and gratitude for having something heroic deep inside that you and I apparently lack. What sickens me is the armchair quarterbacks calling morning-after plays from their computer screen about "never should have gone in the first place." Thank God the whole world isn't full of these "wise" people who talk big and do nothing.

I’ve seen the lower photo before, but just noticed the masked guy, dressed in black, with a club.

No.

So you can keep your ass out of prison.

A lot of words, but completely barren of logic.

Of course he had the right to protect himself once he was attacked. Never have I said anything different.

But a riot is no place for a 17 year old.

Maybe a 37 year old with experience in violent situations, but never a 7 year old.

Twist it any way you want, that does not change.

I think Kyle pointed the gun at him after that photo and the guy lowered his weapon. Kyle didn’t shoot him. But I’m not certain.

To point out the fallacy of this, the AR-15 didn’t even exist back then... :P

Also, great, we have a lot of guns. So did Australia. Look what happened to them.
