That's a good question, Those chutes have very heavy doors to keep odors from blowing back into the building.

The door wouldn't be heavy and it would only measure about 2ft. by 2ft.

It's usually on an armature that closes tight , not just to avoid odors but it closes tight as a fire safety measure.
