The authorities in Kenya have announced that from the 21st of December everyone who is not vaccinated will be barred from using public transport and accessing government buildings.
The announcement was made by Health Minister, Mutahi Kagwe.
Vaccination rates in Kenya are currently less than 10% of the population.
Official data suggests that the country has administered 6.4 million jabs out of a total of 10.7 million doses it has received.
Infection rates however remain relatively low. An average of 59 infections are reported every day.
The government has set a target of vaccinating 10 million people by the end of December. This however represents only 20% of the population.
There goes my sightseeing trip to Kenya 🤪

This is as disappointing as it is unnecessary. Kenya’s Covid cases have been plummeting, and it’s death rate - never high - has also been dropping. Despite (because of?) it’s low vaccination rate, Kenya ranks 164th in the world in Covid deaths-per-million. Their death rate is about 1/25th of ours. This sounds like a copy-cat reaction.

Says a lot about a society where they outright ban 90% of their residents from public transport or buildings—and over just a few “infections”!
It's just another case where a country uses Ivermectin. I haven't seen a country yet where cases and deaths did not drop if they used it.

Kenya ranks 85th in Covid cases, but 164th in Covid deaths-per-million. Sounds like they’re doing something right without widespread vaccination. They had a spike in cases between late-July and mid-September, but that spike has dropped off dramatically.
