The Kiribati islands, Cambodia, Denmark, Tanzania, the Seychelles and the UAE. One might be forgiven for thinking that little connects these distant, often far-flung, corners of the globe. For the most part, little does. All except for one thing. Each of these countries has been on China’s wish list for the establishment of military bases as the East Asian giant attempts to expand its global footprint.
Most recently, headlines were awash with rumours that the UAE, a key US partner in the Middle East, had begun building a military installation for China. After a swift US intervention in the matter, construction on the facility was brought to a halt even as the UAE protested that it had no plans to host a Chinese military base. Observers of China’s military posture will be less than surprised by the drama unfolding in the Middle East. Since 2017, China has made no bones about its intention to build overseas military facilities in a bid to project influence as well as safeguard its economic interests and citizenry.
For much of China’s history post the establishment of CCP rule in 1949, its leaders eschewed the establishment of military bases on foreign soil. Even in the boom years of Chinese growth in the 1990s and 2000s, China’s military and political elite pursued defence modernisation while making clear that “military expansion” in the form of foreign bases was off the table.

China’s economy depends entirely on importing Middle East oil, Brazilian iron ore, and Indonesia coal.
Strategically they have the same concerns as us, the need to keep raw materials flowing and defend the shipping lanes.

Give them San Clemente Island and resume bombing practice.
I am going to be the contrarian here, as I have been studying Chinese energy and mineralogy for decades.
Global and universally acceptable narrative is designed to favor China in nearly every category. This includes across our IC.
As well, specific information has been largely sanitized, or for political reason re-classified in the late 2008 and 2009.
So what I am about to say can only remain to some degree anecdotal, albeit there are hints all over the open web.
In a nutshell, China has vast untapped reserves of iron ore (including “high grade”), vast reserves of rare-earth minerals, and very significant (largely untapped) reserves of valuable and marketable energy.
The CCP and Moscow HQ’d CIS have also worked in conjunction to “put the lid on it”. Actually, Russian Academy of Sciences and RIA Novasti had some of the most comprehensive surveys completed, with several of them verified by Western sources decades ago.
There have now been successful efforts with survey’s to “lock it up” at various levels in the US, including at the corporate, academic, and governmental.
In reality, China is implementing global colonialism, with the goal of global communism dominated by China.
This is end game stuff.
By controlling and siphoning all global resources, by default China neutralizes potential foreign enemy efforts, ascends above all other political jurisdictions in importance, and creates global dependency under the Chinese Communist Politburo.
This is just an early phase, if not stopped.

To acquire military bases in foreign lands, all China has to do is to corrupt the leaders of the targeted lands. The USA is a soft target.
Sure China has resources, but they aren’t comparable to its production.
Take iron. China makes 57% of the world’s steel. There is no way it has that same portion of the iron ore reserves. It can’t maintain that steel industry without huge imports from the rest of the world.
You are correct, to what is available for you to study.
And there is a whole lot more you could post to “verify” your position.
You made my point well.
