The Biden-Harris administration issued a report Friday to increase the price of oil leasing fees on federal lands in the United States by 50 percent—even while accusing oil companies of artificially increasing prices through illegal and anticompetitive actions.
Despite record-high gasoline prices impacting American families across the country with winter around the corner, the Biden-Harris administration is recommending Congress hike the cost of oil leases on government lands from 12.50 percent to 18.75 percent.

They’re all investors in leases, it appears.
Well that and the SPR release should ease things at the pump. NOT! Butt, no mean tweets and no OMB so.................
Further causing pain to the middle class and poor.
Here it comes.....
The mother of all perpetuals.....
Commie trash like BeijingBiden define “competition “ differently than most, most any speaking English that is. Like the CDC redefining vaccine so as to push Pharm sales, BB thinks competition as anything opposing him.
Yep, and food shortages as the domestic enemy occupiers attack the transportation industry more and more.
Let’s see how well leftist cities like New York city do, how much AOC, Schumer, and Nadler like it with their population of 8 million when food distribution is interrupted for even a week.
All it takes is one announcement for supermarkets to be cleaned out in a day and for the elderly, the disabled to be utterly screwed.
The Biden domestic enemy occupation is absolutely playing with fire with their freakin’ mandates, regulations and deliberate raising of fuel costs but somehow I think they just don’t give a damn.
Exactly. Biden is an empty suit. How low has the US gone to ensure a Democrat victory?
Democrats really get off on taking money away from people.
Joe Biden, Last American President.
The best was to stop behavior is to tax it to death.
Oh, that’s not biased reporting ... lol.
Complaining about Republican ‘gerrymandering’ rings hollow after the Dems obviously stole the White House in 2020, aided and abetted by the media. They even publicly bragged about it. Igor Douche and the rest of Salon can sit’n’spin as far as I’m concerned.
The bad news - Biden’s motives are to just stick to the U.S. fossil fuels producers.
The good news - regardless of Biden’s bad motives, why shouldn’t the fees be increased after 50+ years without any fee increases?
Liberals in politics have zero accountability. Peons/consumers are irate, but to no avail.
We're in the rabbit hole and there's no end in sight.
Gas price for yesterday in California: $4.71 (regular). Write the price down.
I’ll guarantee you it’s a minimum of $4.90 come the first of January. None of Biden’s actions do anything to change the price.
(Note from four weeks ago, the price was $4.54)
You can never trust anything he says he’s nuts lies about everything and is clueless about everything he has no ides what is going on in his own cabinet.
The fool is like a pinball with nobody at the flippers.
Infinitely better than mean tweets
I've got a few reasons ...
1) The fee is a percentage. I'm not sure of what exactly, but as a percentage it is self-adjusting. The more oil is extracted, the more the oil companies pay. That's true no matter how long it's been since the last increase. Using the logic that the lease fee percentage should increase with time, it should eventually reach a level that is unsustainable, long before it's 100%.
2) If it's all at once, a 50% increase will undoubtedly be a big shock to the business model. Domestic oil production will be suppressed even more than it is now and people will suffer. Get ready for long lines at the gas pump and another jump in your heating and grocery bills.
3) Who do you think will pay that rate increase in the end? Hint: it won't be the oil and gas companies. They'll simply pass it on to the consumer. That's you and me. Therefore the price increases even more and those at the low end of the economic spectrum will be hurt worst. You know, those people the Dems claim to care about the most. And the Dems will convince many of them that the price increase is due to 'gouging' by the greedy oil executives. They've already started beating that drum and many of their voters will fall for it.
4) I'm sure that Dementia joe's puppetmasters know all this, and they don't care. The very purpose is to end oil production outright so that they can replace it with wind and solar. Taxing a behavior (i.e. traveling, heating one's home) guarantees less of it. Speaking for myself, I like having the freedom to travel as I please, heat my home and feed my family without breaking the bank.
I can't help thinking that the end result of Biden's energy policies will be to bring us to the world of Orwell's 1984, where people are very limited in their mobility and get just enough food and heat to keep them alive and working, but not comfortably. Life will get pretty miserable for most of us. People who are just barely surviving are easier to control, which is the whole point.
Boy is this dumb.
Nailed it!
