The “never lock your car” rule is probably a good one. It would have saved me from having to replace a broken window. But I still would have had to replace a popped ignition.
Anyway, I did follow another good rule: Move out of the city.
The difference is that the ferral’s in US cities — even the very young — want to swipe the car itself. Down in the Caribbean they’re happy with a pair of sunglasses or a pack of chewing gum.
