The next pandemic could be deadlier and wreak more havoc than the COVID-19 crisis, a vaccine researcher has warned.
Sarah Gilbert, a professor at the University of Oxford whose team developed the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, cautioned that while it’s clear that the current pandemic is “not done with us,” the next health threat could pose a greater danger, the BBC reported.
“This will not be the last time a virus threatens our lives and our livelihoods. The truth is, the next one could be worse. It could be more contagious, or more lethal, or both,” she told the outlet.
Gilbert said it’s critical that more funding and research be dedicated to preventing future pandemics.

You could make this case every year. Viruses are not anything new.
But more contagious AND more lethal tend to be rare—because they burn out. Think Ebola or small pox.
Go back and read War of the Worlds…a virus took out the invaders in that story. This is a story as old as writing. And every once in a while, they get it right.

It’s so very clear that not only do a significant number of people like to stoke constant fear (for their own benefit, no doubt), and that not only do a significant number of people live to breathlessly report each new “horror” (for the thrill of “being first to do so,” no doubt), far more people, I think, really savor being afraid and look forward to being told every hour of every day what they must do ... that they must obey their “expert” or their “politician” or, most disgustingly, their “unelected bureaucrat” of choice.

We are in the age of the Church of the State. Separation of Church and State gave people freedom from onerous burdens of having to pay for their sins with money or torture or ostracism. Church defined the sins and used the power of State to enforce their rules. Now we have a state that not only excludes religion but nearly prohibits it. The State has become the Church. Now people tithe to the state which then decides where their charitable giving goes.
