f you’re a Philadelphia shopkeeper and someone shoots you, you can die knowing that at least you weren’t a bigot.
Thanks to the city’s Public Health and Human Services Committee, the city is one step closer to getting rid of bulletproof glass in a number of its small businesses as an attempt to “crack down on loitering, public urination and potential drug sales.” It’s no doubt a seemingly pointless way to achieving those alleged goals, and the main reason they don’t make much sense is that they’re cover for what they’re really trying to fight: racism (yes, really).
According to Philadelphia 8th District Councilwoman Cindy Bass, shopkeepers protecting themselves with bulletproof plexiglass represents an “indignity” to her constituents and should therefore be banned. According to Bass, the glass helps “only foster a sense that the establishment – more specifically, its clientele – is dangerous. And that too many of those stores masquerade as eateries when their biggest sales draw is alcohol, feeding vices in the city’s struggling neighborhoods.”
It’s an indignity to buy a meal through such a window, she said.
She reasoned: “They know they’re civil, honest people. They’re hit with this symbol of distrust and it works on your psyche in subtle ways. You know that you’re devalued as a customer.”
Yeah – or the public also doesn’t want to get shot.

In Chicago the mayor wants shopkeepers to do more to prevent robberies. If she sees things like those in Philly then putting merchandise and workers behind glass won’t be an option.

The way it has been explained to me
“Well, they only put up the bullet proof glass in black neighborhoods!”
I respond that I grew up next to white trash areas. They had bullet proof glass and would lock to store at 5PM. So if you needed something the clerk would get it, take your payment, and then pass it through a metal tray to you.
He didn’t believe me till I showed him pictures. It isn’t a race thing, it is “I am not going to be held up and shot again!” thing.
Ask the average baby mama if she would rather buy her stuff by handing money to a clerk behind bulletproof glass or travel further to get it, we all know what the answer would be.
Of course, their government leaders who get their stuff delivered really don't care.
Okay, so suppose I’m a shop owner and I stay behind glass. (It’s to protect myself from Covid, I tell ya!)
How will Philadelphia know whether it’s regular glass or bulletproof glass?
Oh, silly me. Philadelphia will probably hire 100 Glass Inspectors whose sole job is to go around and test store glass.
This is the same madness as Kyle Rittenhouse had no right to defend himself.
American cities are out-of-control centers of lawlessness.
The real question is why any decent people still live there.
Build walls around cities and let nobody leave. Let them have at each other without consequence.

I lived in a neighborhood in Chicago where the bulletproof glass was common (Harold’s Chicken, Hayatt’s submarine sandwich). The food come on a little carousel in the glass. Harold’s used a heavy duty RC machine for the drinks in those days.
The result of these mandates is that takeout restaurants will start closing at dusk, or prices will go up to get people to work there and pay higher insurance premiums.
They have been doing this for years. I think the Chinese councilperson doesn’t like the glass at the check cashing places. now they can call them covid protection.

It really is quite astounding that there is a segment of this society that thinks like this. Every single thing in their lives revolves around race and division.
Yesterday I read that CornPop is going to award the Medal Of Honor to 3 men. One of them being, Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn Cashe. His race makes ZERO difference. What does matter is that he did things that day that were beyond explanation and heroic, in my humble opinion. The man is a BADASS.
But, back to the point of the article. They should just close the businesses down. Tell the store owners to sell the remaining inventory and close the doors. Of course, I doubt any of the consequences of this idea will effect the people making the decisions. It’s crying shame that the black population of this country cannot seem to let go of their true oppressors.

Well, this will make things much easier: They won't have "such a window" - or anyplace at all left to buy a meal.
And then they wonder why there are "food" deserts in such areas (they will call it racist without the slightest hint of understanding the irony).

It’s not racist to wish to remain intact at the end of the day so you can feed and house your family, and so on your sabbath you can worship the God of the Army if Angels who inspired someone to develope that same protective glass that satan despises.
