People currently aged 14 and under will never be able to legally purchase tobacco.
New Zealand has announced it will outlaw smoking for the next generation, so that those who are aged 14 and under today will never be legally able to buy tobacco.
New legislation means the legal smoking age will increase every year, to create a smoke-free generation of New Zealanders, associate health minister Dr Ayesha Verrall said on Thursday.
“This is a historic day for the health of our people,” she said.

In an Australian cigar group I visit people are joking about Jolly Rogers of the future.
Ships could be sitting just outside the three mile limit while small craft approach to buy smokes and smuggle them into hard to find New Zealand coves.

Just think. They are able to test for tobacco use. You go to work, have a random drug test, fail, in jail for a year. It is to protect others from second hand smoke.

And they will be the same ones seen smoking a cigar when caught doing so at a restaurant or club in another country.
