Biden’s NOT going to protect them

The United States has had neither the will nor the power to interfere in this matter since the first Reagan administration, and probably not since 1973.

Yeah, but with a Ti Logo, p/n & date code.

Tejas was a big source of silicon for the world back in the day.

Biden’s a disaster. So are the idiots he’s put in his administration. This ‘chip issue’ is huge - God these people are so stupid. Three more years...

Biden is irrelevant to the upcoming reunification of China.

No American President would under any circumstances authorize the use of force in a conflict between China and its wayward province, and if one did he would be impeached and removed.

“The US asserts the right to block sales of chips produced with US machines or intellectual property.”

I wonder how it has worked for the US automakers...

In the place I live you can only buy a Chinese car off the lot for MSRP.

The rest are suffering from inventory shortages due to a lack of chips.

"...Back in the day..."

Are you talking about around the TI-30 days? (1983 I think.)

(I had a TI-30)

Pretty much.

Back in those days I wuz heavily involved in spaghetti code software development of real time microprocessor control of automotive engine control to meet EPA required emissions control.

Much shortage of processor cycles, registers, RAM, Code storage to get effective real time control accomplished....

".... I wuz heavily involved in spaghetti code software

Back then I was writing writing Z-80 assembly language code for
high-speed network performance analysis systems. That tracked
transactions occurring on the data links, and if response times
exceeded threshold(s) generate messages to the minicomputer
control system(s) that would display status and traffic
on a schematic display of the global networks.

Tracking how much time a given person or workstation was
logged into and using certain applications.
Was involved in network security, etc...

Fast-forward to the '90s and I was doing manufacturing
robotics software for semiconductor plasma etch / deposion
chambers. Writing the software for the robots and
computers that made silicon chips. Way cool. But the
company first moved to Florida and then was bought by a
huge Swiss conglomerate.

Then I took it 'on the road' as a consultant. Doing warehouse
inventory management systems, controlling
the robots skittering around the warehouse moving stuff,
load planning for truck and rail transport, etc.

Now I'm sitting around trying to find potential employers
who can actually understand my resume'.
Seems that talent, motivation and intelligence are less
in demand in the US these days than previously.
I HOPE that I'm just looking in the wrong places.
But perhaps it's my 'bad attitude' also...

"No Bloat TM."

Are you crazy?
Without 'Bloat' Microsoft Windows would not,
and in fact, could not even exist.

I've been in Health Care software all my life, from Long Term Care facilities, to EMR applications, to Health Insurance.... even a stint at the CDC (back when it wasn't quite as evil)... so I don't think I'd be much help for you....but with your list of skills, I'd not think it would be too hard for you to find something.
