They want young, inexperienced people they can easily manipulate.

If it were up to me I might move the voting age up to 25 or 30. Once you've had a few years in the workforce to see how things really work (or don't). By then you've had a few years as an adult, on your own. How many 25 or 30 year olds have the same priorities they had at 16 or 17? Who do we want influencing decisions for the entire country?

Okay, since 16 and 17 year olds are responsible enough to vote, I think we should give them the right to:

- enlist in the armed forces
- drink alcohol
- purchase tobacco
- purchase and carry firearms of any type

Will the liberals agree to this?

Dependent children should never have the right to vote. If one is 25 and still dependent of one’s parents - no vote. If one is 18 and fully independent, absolutely, vote.

They keep telling us the human brain doesn’t mature until 25 and kids aren’t mature enough to drink or drive a rental car before that age so why should they vote? I say take away the vote from anyone under 25 with a compromise for letting those in military service or veterans vote before that age. I regret my own votes from my early 20s (Clinton in ‘92).

The Founders set the minimum age for representatives at 25 and senators at 30. The Founders were wise people. And you just might be too!

It should go back to 21 and older. Maybe some other voting restrictions would be better the way they were 200 years ago.

No.

Not unless you want to LOWER the age of adulthood with all the concomitant rights and responsibilities including RKBA, alcohol, tobacco, etc...

Funny how they want to lower the age for some things, and raise it for others.

Okay. But, if they are old enough to vote, they are old enough to own an AR15.

Sit down with a 16 year old and try to discuss things like deficit spending, progressive versus regressive tax rates, the part monetary policy by the Fed has on the inflation rate. If you receive cogent answers, you’re one of the lucky ones. Indeed, I think there should be a test to see if you know enough to vote what you think, rather than who someone tells you to vote for.

I also think that, if you don’t pay Federal Income Taxes, you don’t get to vote in Federal elections. Same for State and Local taxes. After all, no skin in the game, why should you vote? Given that we can’t get voter ID passed, which should be a no-brainer, this idea would never stand a chance.
