Marine accused of being an ‘FBI plant to incite January 6 Capitol riot’ confronted by reporters with the Daily Mail at his wedding and hospitality business

As he drives his golf cart around his small, immaculate desert ranch, Ray Epps appears at ease.

He walks through the property he has transformed into a thriving wedding venue business, emphasizing the rustic charm of the location.

The peaceful scene just outside Phoenix, Arizona, could not be more different from another incident where he was involved – the storming of the Capitol Building on January 6.

Epps, 60, is not only a genial wedding host for rural areas, he is also the former president of the largest chapter of the Oath Keepers. In video footage taken on the day of the protest, he said supporters should ‘go into the Capitol.’

He was also seen in footage breaching the first barrier that fell to rioters at 12:50.

When the FBI published images of suspect 16 in its Capitol Violence Most Wanted list of people to identify two days after the violence, he was named Suspect 16.

In a dramatic twist, he is now being accused of another allegiance, that of the FBI.

Some in conservative circles believe that he was sent to spark the riot on behalf of the federal government, speculating a theory. Hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters protested peacefully outside of the Capitol Building, ask Trump asked them to do. In no way was that an insurrection as those on the left spew. Many are wondering who went against Trump’s wishes and sparked the violence.

Some conservatives hypothesize that the motive was to frame Trump supporters as domestic terrorists.

Epps was never arrested in connection with the storming and there is no evidence he entered the building himself on that day.

The veteran was confronted by reporters with the Daily Mail at his wedding and hospitality business, Rocking R Farms, run with his wife Robyn, 63.

In Queen Creek, 30 miles southeast of downtown Phoenix, they visited him and gave him a chance to counter the speculation, but he refused to discuss it.

Epps told them to: ‘Get off my property.’ As the reporters pressed to talk to him, he again told them to: ‘Get off my property.’

Besides tending to his animals, Epps also drives around in an eight-seater golf cart, as the reporters’ pictures show.

Having worn a red Trump cap in Washington, he had swapped it for a beige Marines cap. In the bitter desert winter, he looked wary and stoic beside the driveway entrance posts bearing the name ‘EPPS.

There was a world of difference between the bucolic scene and the howling mobs that stormed the Capitol Building and fought police shortly after then-President Trump addressed thousands of MAGA supporters at a ‘Stop the Steal’ rally nearby.

In October, when the FBI theory took hold, Epps – who was listed on the wanted list in January – was mentioned again in the House Judiciary Committee’s oversight hearing of the Department of Justice.

The representative from Kentucky for the U.S. House of Representatives, Thomas Massie, played video clips of Epps encouraging protesters on the streets of DC to enter Capitol Hill.

Attorney General Merrick Garland was asked by Massie whether the government sent agents to ‘agitate’ the protestors into entering the building.

The Justice Department does not comment on pending investigations, Garland said.

In the first video the committee was shown, Epps can be seen on a DC street on Jan. 5th saying: ‘In fact tomorrow, I don’t even want to say it because I will probably be arrested. Tomorrow we need to go into the Capitol.’

He was also recorded on the same day saying: ‘I’m going to put it out there. I’m probably going to go to jail for it, OK? Tomorrow, we need to go into the Capitol. Into the Capitol…peacefully.’

At this point, certain members of the crowd were convinced he was a plant and chanted: ‘Fed! Fed! Fed!’

Later, in another clip, you can see Epps dressed in military-style clothes and yelling: ‘OK folks, spread the word. As soon as the president is done speaking, we go to the Capitol, where our problems are.’

He points behind him and says: ‘It’s that direction. Please spread the word.’

Afterward, he is seen approaching chanting protestors from behind police barricades.

His hands cupped around the shoulders of the man wearing the MAGA hat, and then he spoke in the man’s ear.

Minutes later, he and other protestors tipped over the barriers and fought with police.

Ryan Samsel, the man in the hat, is being held in custody for allegedly entering the Capitol unlawfully and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

A second video shows Epps, who was also carrying a military-style backpack, asking a man: ‘Are we going to get arrested?’

Epps says: ‘When we go in, leave this here.’ It is not clear what he is referring to, but then he adds: ‘We don’t need to get shot.’

Epps was asked by the Arizona Republic what he meant when he said ‘go into the Capitol’.

He told the paper: ‘The only thing that meant is we would go in the doors like everyone else. It was totally, totally wrong the way they went in…I didn’t do anything wrong.’

Conservative blog Revolver has so far offered the most dramatic interpretation of FBI-plant allegations.

The site is owned by former Trump speechwriter, Darren Beattie. Beattie was fired by the Trump administration after he appeared on a panel with a white nationalist.

In the article, it states that the fact Epps was never arrested and removed from the FBI wanted list without any action taken against him suggests a sinister connection. It labeled him as a ‘Fed-protected provocateur’.

On one occasion, the blog rationalizes the actions of rioters and blames the military veteran and other unknown individuals.

The blog states: ‘Ray Epps appears to have worked alongside several individuals – many of them suspiciously unindicted – to carry out a breach of the police barricades that induced a subsequent flood of unsuspecting MAGA protestors to unwittingly trespass on Capitol restricted grounds and place themselves in legal jeopardy.’

Epps served as president of the largest Oath Keepers chapter in the country in 2011. Several members of the group are among the 727 individuals from 40 states charged with offenses related to the violence.

The Oath Keepers website states that it is: “S non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, police, and first responders who pledge to fulfill the oath all military and police take to “defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” That oath, mandated by Article VI of the Constitution itself, is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and Oath Keepers declare that they will not obey unconstitutional orders, such as orders to disarm the American people, to conduct warrantless searches, or to detain Americans as “enemy combatants” in violation of their ancient right to jury trial.”

It isn’t known if he is still associated with the group, which recruits former law enforcement officers and veterans for membership.

The Arizona-born Epps bought the property he owns today in 2010 for $252,000, when it was a five-acre horse farm. In the past few years, he and his wife, Robyn, also 60, have developed the site and possibly added more land to Rocking R Farms.

In addition to providing a rustic wedding venue, Knotty Barn offers a bridal suite to stay in and get ready for the ceremony.

Their website explains, “Ray has farming in his blood. One side of his family raised dairy cows and the other raised range cattle. He worked on the farm beside his parents and grandparents most of his adolescent life.”

The two met in Las Vegas while Epps was a contractor for her boss. She hired him to fix the roof of the apartment building.

The website states: ‘Robyn told an employee to catch Ray and ask him to come back in before he got into his truck.

‘That night, they went out on a date and not long afterward, Ray asked Robyn to marry him. Their love is still very strong today and memories are rekindled every time they walk a bride and groom through their property.’

Regarding their property, they relate: ‘In 2010, Ray wanted to return to his roots, so he and Robyn bought a 5-acre farm…

‘Ray brought cattle to the farm along with horses, including his favorite horse, T-Rex, who roams contentedly through the front pasture.’

At first, they sold grass-fed beef, eggs, and tomatoes at local farmers markets. However, in 2016, the bottom fell out of the market, so the business was repurposed into a wedding venue, which they launched in 2019.

It will be INTERESTING to see if Epps gets called in to testify, should the Republicans somehow win one or both houses of Congress in 2022.

Did the FBI commit treason against America on January 6th? Did the FBI break entrapment laws? If Ray Epps is an FBI informant, as he appears to be, then the answer is obvious...

If you don’t want to be harassed, you shouldn’t try to incite riots with other FBI types.

I like how his wife was 63 in the first part of the article, but by the end she was only 60.

Like the Byrds/Dylan sang, “I was so much younger then, I’m older than that now.”
