The omicron-fueled surge that is sending COVID-19 cases rocketing in the U.S. is putting children in the hospital in record numbers, and experts lament that most of the youngsters are not vaccinated.
“It’s just so heartbreaking,” said Dr. Paul Offit, an infectious-disease expert at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “It was hard enough last year, but now you know that you have a way to prevent all this.”

Aria Shapiro, 6, spent her 12th day Thursday at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She tested positive for COVID-19 after getting her first dose of the vaccine Dec. 17. Aria, who is considered “medically fragile” because she has epilepsy, suffered prolonged seizures in the hospital, and a breathing tube had to be put down her throat at one point, though she has since improved.

The three hospitals in my central coast California county has a total of 2 people in the ICU related to COVID. No children. Last COVID death was an individual in his 80s. Time to panic!
And how many really need to be in the hospital? Since hospitals are incentivized for Covid patients, I'm suspicious.
I highly doubt this. Vaccine related sicknesses, sure, but not a weaker variant of covid.

Children who are being admitted to the hospital FOR OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS are being tested, and are tested "positive" via the BS PCR test.
They have neither symptoms nor the virus!

The omicron variant of COVID-19 Wuhan virus does not, for the most part, put anybody in the hospital in and of itself, but only if there is some comorbidity. It is a bad cold, but nothing that cannot be controlled, in most instances, with common-sense home care, plenty of liquids, and perhaps aspirin, to control fever. Self-limiting, usually about five days to a week, and the patient is recovered, not “super-spreading”, and most probably with a brand new immunity to all COVID-19 virus infections.
Think of it, a “live-virus” inoculation that evolved all on its own, without extensive technical innovations or lab testing.
It doesn’t make as good a jingle as Pepto-Bismol’s “When you have nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea ...”
I don’t think so. If there are lots of American children in the hospitals do to Omicron then our children are different than all other children in the world. Israel, South Africa and Great Briton do not see this. But they do see people in the hospital for other reasons who have Omicron. And in fact, many get it from the hospital.

No. They are testing everyone admitted to the hospital for any reason and completely asymptomatic children are testing positive. Children are hospitalized WITH COVID not FOR COVID. If Johnny breaks a leg in a car accident, falling out of a tree or skiing and tests positive for COVID he is included in the statistic.
