Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) said Monday he will not seek reelection after 15 terms in Congress.

Rush told the Chicago Sun-Times he made the decision in the past several weeks and that it was a result of a conversation he had with his grandson.

“I don’t want my grandchildren . . . to know me from a television news clip or something they read in a newspaper,” Rush told the Sun-Times.

“I want them to know me on an intimate level, know something about me and I want to know something about them. I don’t want to be a historical figure to my grandchildren.”

The Illinois Democrat said he plans to remain active in his ministry and use his life story and experiences to inspire young people.

Rush co-founded the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers, becoming acting chairman following the killings of Fred Hampton and Mark Clark in a police raid in December 1969.

And... in April 2021— finally, Alcee Hastings the Senate impeached and convicted (removed from Federal Judgeship)— a true lifetime criminal who ran for Congress and won, over and over again. Corrupt from the word go.

And to think— THIS thing was whom Nantzi Pelousi chose to chair the 2nd Impeachment of President Trump— when Trump was NO LONGER in office! Yes, they are all that corrupt and some just unbelievably corrupt. In Hasting’s case he had gold (not plate) plumbing in his FL house- he continued to solicit bribes as a judge for lenient sentences in major criminal cases. And was a looney Leftist neo-Marxist (at least he talked that way while stuffing his pockets).

Very low key. The only memories I have of him are Obama giving him a big hug at every State of the Union address.

We, the public will never know. The entire body of congress probably knows, though. He looks a really rough 75 y/o.
As though he is wilting.

But the OTHER Bobby Rush, ignored by the mainstream for many years, has now won two Grammys well into his 80s. I celebrate him.

His replacement will probably be as bad or worse.

Alcee had the scam down to a science.

Every time he got caught taking bribes he yelled “racist” over and over and over again.
