WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized politicians who refuse to say whether they’ve received a Covid booster shot.
In an interview with far-right cable channel One America News, Trump said he received the booster and has seen politicians get asked in interviews whether they’ve also gotten a third shot.
“They don’t want to say it because they’re gutless,” Trump said. “You gotta say it, whether you had it or not. Say it. But the fact is that I think the vaccines saved tens of millions throughout the world. I’ve had absolutely no side effects.”
Trump said that the Covid vaccine largely prevents people from being hospitalized or dying from the disease.
“If they get it, they’re not going to hospitals for the most part and dying,” Trump said. “Before it was a horror, and now they’re not.”

In terms of DeSantis' statement, here's exactly what he said when asked:
“I’ve done whatever I did, the normal shot, and that at the end of the day is people’s individual decisions about what they want to do,” DeSantis said when he was asked if he had received a booster shot by host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.
Any remotely fair-minded person reading that would conclude that he believes the booster is a matter of individual choice, and so isn't saying publicly. Not exactly a mystery. And here's what his press secretary said when asked:
Florida Politics asked DeSantis Press Secretary Christina Pushaw about DeSantis’ comments last month. She responded she is “not able to speak to his private medical decisions.”
"Private medical decision." So again, no doubt as to what DeSantis' stance is. If Trump wants to roast him because he believes every politician should disclose whether they have received a booster, that's his right. Although I'm not sure that attacking other Republican politicians who have been generally supportive of him is a great strategy if he chooses to run again.
This sort of exemplifies why I'd prefer Trump not run in 2024. He is so damned thin-skinned that he'll attack viciously anyone, even people with whom he is normally allied, if he perceives them as being even a potential threat. As if someone else wanting to be nominated makes them an enemy rather than just a competitor. And the problem with that is that you alienate a whole lot of people that you'd need to help put together a competent Administration.
“Do you people even read the attached articles?”
You mean I should actually read something before commenting on it? Where’s the fun in that?
They’ll have to try harder than that.
I don’t give a damn if he is for or against vaccines. The ONLY thing that counts from my perspective is if he supports mandatory vaccinations. He don’t! Learn it...
Trump has been asked on a number of occasions to state whether he believes in "Q" theories. Asked directly, wouldn't answer, and just said something non-responsive to the question. His answer was even less clear than DeSantis' response to the vaccine because you couldn't even draw an inference one way or the other.
Regardless of how you feel about Q, how was Trump's refusal to answer that question not equally "gutless"?
“ I don’t give a damn if he is for or against vaccines. The ONLY thing that counts from my perspective is if he supports mandatory vaccinations. He don’t! Learn it...”
Agree. Explain this- his so called conservative judges are spending more than two minutes wondering whether to mandate the vaccines. He brought about the circulation of the vaccines. The mandate comes from that. There are so many problems with the vaccines
Why can’t he just say ‘I’m against mandates’ and be quiet?
One could make a case that Trump is trying to divide Republicans with some of his latest actions. Just a few things I’ve noticed...
- Promoting boosters, after calling them a money making scam before
- Now to the point of attacking others for not taking boosters, which have proven worthless
- Wishing Ghislaine Maxwell well several times during her trial
- Cancelling his January 6 speech
- Refusing to announce for 2024, or not, when Biden already has
Maybe there’s nothing to it, but I haven’t agreed with much he’s done lately, myself. He seems to be dividing Republicans more than uniting us against Democrats.
If you want to go down the experimental, untested pro-vax rabbit-hole, be my guest.
Vaccination and attitudes about it are not part of the conservative doctrine — which is very strictly 1) Build the Wall 2) Drain the Swamp 3) America First In All Things 4) Pro Guns 5) Pro Life
No more and not one iota less.
Sounds as if some freepers are turning into “never Trumpers”. Get a grip, what’s the alternative?
100% agree with you on this.
As long as he is against forcing the jabs, then okay.
No, the mandates didn't come from Trump....Good grief! You ever thought about working for CNN?
The current vaccine situation is directly related to overblown government, government control of media and medicine, and possible totalitarianism. Those are core conservative issues.
vaccinated, yes, but we do not know about the boosters, which i think is what trump is referring to
They injected our Glorious Leader with numerous boluses of Crazy. He’s likely gone.
Why doesn’t he just be quiet about the vax? That’s all anyone is asking. And why attack DeSantis about anything especially the vax?
Those are the prescient issues.
The alternative?
Ron Desantis.
DeSantis can’t win. If he says he got the booster the antivaxers will attack. If he say he didn’t, the fearful will attack. His medical status, at this point, is no one’s business anyway.
That being said, Trump should talk about the future and what he would do rather than the election and vaccines (Like DeSantis does and is doing.)
This is equivalent to Trump forcing boosters, by using his political might to publicly shame any potential competitors who may not have been boosted. Their reasons may be because the boosters don’t even seem to work in preventing current strains, nor is there any data on their long term safety, not to mention it’s private medical information, to begin with.
