Driving through the once pleasant large city of Sacramento a few days ago I thought I was in a war zone. Homeless encampments along the freeways. Graffiti and trash everywhere. Mayor Steinberg sure knows how to create blight in a once beautiful city. I guess that will get him elected to Governor of California, and who knows, maybe the President.
Nurse critically injured following attack near Union Station; man in custody: Police
A woman was taken to a local hospital after police say she was blindsided and punched by a homeless man near Union Station in Chinatown early Thursday morning.
The woman was at a station stop near the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Avenue and North Vignes Street when she was assaulted by a man, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.
The unidentified victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
Authorities later indicated the woman is a nurse in her 60s.
Police are reviewing surveillance video of the attack and are also looking to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
Sky5 was over the scene as investigators searched an area of the bus stop that was marked off by crime scene tape.
Scattered debris and what appeared to be blood could be seen on the ground.
The alleged assailant was taken into custody in connection with the incident, police said.
The suspect’s identity has not been released, but police described him as being a homeless man in his 40s.

I remember seeing the bums and tramps in Marysville CA back in 1968-1969. One guy with a peck bushel basket often hassled everyone for a handout. I expected to hear of him being found dead when Juan Corona was arrested for killing so many of them back in 1971.
The Tulsa World, back in the 1960s had an article on homelessness in the Tulsa area. In their interview, the bums often said they were on their way to California. That was fifty seven years ago.
When the vagrancy laws were done away with, the museums and libraries were filled with them sleeping everywhere. The big downtown Library had to close one floor due to bedbugs.
Try that in Missouri and you will be shot dead. By Missouri law, Missourians have a right to shoot someone who’s messing with their farm animals.
If he had done that on our property he would be dead homeless.
Around me he’d be enjoying some holes in his liver. Throw him in the back of the truck and the next stop is a shallow grave about 30 miles from town
Without drugs killing him, air burial in the deep woods would be fine. Coyotes and buzzards have to eat. Gators too,if far enough south. Nature takes care of its own.
