After Sinema Hacked to Death Dems' Filibuster Plan, Manchin Fired Off Another Kill Shot from the Tall Grass

What exactly would you say you do here? It’s the classic line from the film Office Space. That line should be directed at Joe Biden because the man is just a waste of space at this point. The only successful part of his trip to the Hill was that he didn’t trip going up the steps. Biden made one last-ditch effort to get support to tweak the filibuster rules to ram through the Democrat’s shoddy elections bill. It’s not about the integrity of our elections. The bill federalizes the races and makes sure the tilt is always to the Left. It’s a ‘Democrats can only win’ elections bill. Period. For weeks, both Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) were quite adamant that they were not keen on nuking the filibuster for this bill. Manchin did his usual no, but I’ll hear out the arguments bit. Sinema was a clear ‘hell no.’ And that didn’t change after today. In fact, both had ice in their veins after Biden’s visit. They’re not budging. Sinema took a machete to the plan in a floor speech yesterday, with Manchin once again delivering a kill shot from the tall grass (via Axios):

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) reiterated his stance against reforming the filibuster in a statement Thursday, saying, "I cannot support such a perilous course of action."

Driving the news: President Biden earlier in the day attended the Senate Democratic caucus lunch to make a case for reforming the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation.

The backdrop: The House of Representatives earlier Thursday passed a voting rights bill that combines the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Amendment Act.

IIRC, the HOR passed a NASA budget bill then stripped out the language and inserted the voting language. S2747. How is that even possible? It's been S2747 since 9/14/2021 introduced by amy clubcar. Link here:

You do realize that voting on cloture is not the same as the vote to nuke to filibuster right?

Sinema won’t vote for anything that arises from some sort of dirty act or maneuver of desperation from the Dems. Her point is that there needs to be negotiation, not one party ramming something thru. The bill is dead.

Congress has doing that “sleight-of-hand” with bills from day 1.

I fear that Schumer will be successful in sneaking through the NASA bill with the voting amendment attached. They are telling us that it is so popular but they have to sneak it through based on trickery.

I have not heard a single Republican come out and call them out on this garbage. The uniparty sucks.

The republicrats would be like “Oh, they changed some wording? Probably an enhancement. Where do we sign?”

The worst part is that they already signed it. It is a bill that has been passed to fund NASA but the house hasn’t passed it yet.
The Democrats simply plan on adding an amendment to this bill and sending it to the House so they can rubber stamp it. I really don’t think they would be doing this if it was a popular piece of legislation.
Unfortunately, the thinking here is that it doesn’t matter how much people hate him because he’ll still be able to steal the election.
The most Republicans can do is speak up so I better hear some pushback on this... Though I don’t think it will matter. We’re living under soft communism going by a different name.

All good! Of course, these efforts are stealth and won’t get much coverage since everybody knows it’s a scam.

Reference bump. MSNBC pretty much admits it’s a scam.

Which Biden or Democrat policies does Manchin support?

IOW, why is he a Democrat given what the Democratic party has become and the fact that he is from a red state?

As for Sinema:

sinema-senate-boots

Is this some kind of hooker look?

This really exposes how desperate the Democrats have become.
What is shocking to me is how many went along with abolishing the filibuster rule.

I never thought I would say it about a Democrat, but I am thankful at this moment for Senators Sinema and Manchin.

“IOW, why is he a Democrat...”

That is the best place for him given his voting. For him to flip could be disastorous for Conservatives.
