Federal testing website launches next week, 4 tests per home

WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal website where Americans can request free COVID-19 tests will begin accepting orders on Wednesday as the White House looks to address nationwide shortages, but supplies will be limited to just four free tests per home.

Starting on Jan. 19, the website COVIDTests.gov will provide tests at no cost, including no shipping fee, the White House announced Friday.

The White House said “tests will typically ship within 7-12 days of ordering” through the U.S. Postal Service, which reports shipping times of 1-3 days for its first-class package service in the continental United States.

Officials said they are cognizant that any launch of a website carries some risks — and memories of the disastrous roll-out during the Obama administration of Healthcare.gov are still fresh — but said they believe they are well-positioned to handle expected demand for tests.

You’ll be able to tell those that used those gov’t test kits by their constant licking of their hands and trying to lick something else but keep falling off the couch.

Are these the same unreliable PCR tests or something new?

This insanity is reaching new levels with non-sick people standing in line for hours to see if they are sick. Yes, I know many have to do so to go back to work or school.

So do you want to wait in line in freezing cold or wait 7-12 days for your home COVID test to arrive ?

LOL

Why can’t they mail out vaccines so people don’t have to leave their hidey holes and risk catching the ‘rona? Mail back the empty syringe and get your vaccination card.

I’m waiting for the site to crash or to have a massive security breach.

So as cases seem to have peaked and are declining, they finally get around to finding some tests, at least a month late.

I do not understand this constant need for testing, its simply moronic and somewhat infantile.

Launch may cause problems?

Do you think?

The fools could not organize a piss up in a pub.

You’d have to be an absolute moron to do that.

There have been many injuries, and they are irreversible.

There was a photo on FR of a little girl bleeding profusely from her nose due to a brain injury from a test swab. Can't find it, but it was heartbreaking.

Right. I'm gonna stand in line when not sick to find out if I'm sick. But then I'm retired so I don't need a vaxx card.

It amazes me that the CDC, NIH, WHO, and even Fauxi is questioning the efficacy of these experimental jabs. And now Fauxi says Ivermectin is now being studied as a therapeutic.

WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL!

The White House said “tests will typically ship within 7-12 days of ordering” through the U.S. Postal Service, which reports shipping times of 1-3 days for its first-class package service in the continental United States.

So Amazon can put a package on my doorstep the day after I order it but if I get a case of the sniffles, I'll have to wait 8-15 days for the test to arrive?

Thanks Brandon.

Are these the things they stick up your nose to “accidentally” perforate the cribriform plate?

Fortunately the new at-home tests you only need to shove them about 3/4" up your nose.

I imagine this was always the case and the "brain swabs" were never necessary.

There are a lot of morons. The testing swabs don’t need to go nearly that deep.

Straight from the instructions:

“To collect a nasal swab sample, carefully insert the entire absorbent tip of the swab
(usually ½ to ¾ of an inch (1 to 1.5 cm) into the nostril. Firmly sample the nasal wall by
rotating the swab in a circular path against the nasal wall 5 times or more for a total of
15 seconds, then slowly remove from the nostril. Using the same swab, repeat sample
collection in the other nostril.”

I have four consecutive Fauci/China biological warfare virus antibody tests showing I have persistent IgG antibodies.

Is there any rational argument for forcing me to shove anything up my nose?

Officials said they are cognizant that any launch of a website carries some risks...

Oh, yeah, it's one of the most difficult and astounding efforts a highly-paid team of government programmers can accomplish. Launching a website, whoa. I know a third grade class that had one heck of a time launching theirs - took all day. Sure, other agencies in other times have put men on the moon with nothing more than slide rules and cigarettes, but that pales in comparison to a mass mailer of swabs.

Somewhere in a dark office in DC, in the Systemic National Office of Testing, there's a meeting wherein the presenter is saying, "We've got 'em trained, now, watch, we can get everyone in the entire country to shove sticks up their noses. I'm perfectly serious, watch them do it. Should be a piece of cake to get them to vote Democrat."

Reminds me of the Obamacare website launch fiasco.

It’s too little too late now anyway. If they ever manage to get it going, everyone will have already had Omicron and recovered. So it will be a failure even before it begins anyway. What a waste.

You won’t receive Biden’s ‘RAPID tests’ for 8-15 days after you order them. If you’re sick Biden’s program is worthless.

The White House said “tests will typically ship within 7-12 days of ordering” through the U.S. Postal Service, which reports shipping times of 1-3 days for its first-class package service in the continental United States.
