US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy warned Sunday that the “next few weeks will be tough” as COVID-19 infections driven by the Omicron variant continue to surge.
Murthy said that the country is still pushing around 800,000 new cases per day, though some regions, such as New York, have begun to see a plateau in infections.

I am finishing up a ‘brutal fight’ with Omicron.
The experience was like having a chest cold and cough- for three days. That’s all, except for a really mild headache that was noticeable only because I seldom if ever have a headache.
No loss of smell or taste. No fever. No extreme fatigue. Just a ‘cold’.
I am Pfizer vaxd but not boosted.

Why did he wait until after the peak
Two brothers & a SIL with Omicron ... 2 on the back side of their “bad colds” (& a few aches the first day or so of symptoms) this past week, the other felt crummy Wed/Thur/Fri & just tested positive. All were vaxed - no boosters that I’m aware of.
We’ve hit the peak in NYC and DC and already on the way down. The South is now hitting the peak so is California and Utah. Rest of the country should be there in a week or two. By the Super Bowl weekend, it will go away down simply because rhe virus will run of hosts to infect.

People have been so conditioned by fear that symptoms of a cold or mild flu that would not have sent them to the doctor a few years ago have them running in a state of panic to the ER.
Being at the height of the normal flu season and hospitals short staffed, it looks like the plague apocalypse to those who are no longer rational - a sizeable portion of the population unfortunately.

You shouldn’t run to the ER at the first sign of symptoms but it helps to have some knowledge about what will keep the symptoms from getting worse.
