"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

The anarchists today at the helm of BLM and the like don't want this. They are brown supremacists.

Blah, blah , blah. I rather have Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays back rather than the generic ‘President’s Day’ that made room for this token holiday.

Yes, he destroyed the faith of millions of white American voters and black Americans. He could have been one of the greatest and proved most wrong but He chose to join the criminal operation that groomed him for the purpose, he lied, campaigned on being a healer to really show he was a divider and a racist. So martin shed tears because of this, they bastradize his message time and time again

MLK is largely a figment of the MSM and the Marxist used as a bludgeon to get their political agenda moved.

“Unfortunately, the anger in America today has rekindled a growing and unwelcome racial divide. There are shouts of “white privilege” and even demands for reparations for white racism.”

Once affirmative action/preferential hiring-promotion was upheld in court, the majority of this country understood (decades ago) that there was a permanent racial divide, de facto reparations paid by innocent people a century+ to people who had never been enslaved, and “equality” was no longer a goal. It was clear in the 1960s that assimilation had failed, and the birth of BLM WHILE OUR FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT WAS IN OFFICE showed it was even further away 50 years later.

I see a larger point to be made about the role of Black Americans as victors and contributors to our country's progress as a free nation. Their long and successful struggle for freedom, equality, and dignity made civil rights a central concern for the country.

The federal civil law and case decisions that provide a remedy for violations of constitutional rights applies to everyone though. I am sure that Donald Trump, for example, is well aware that he is better able to defend himself against government misconduct because of Reconstruction and civil rights litigation on behalf of Black Americans.

I’m fine with honoring MLK day.

Despite his faults, he was significant in American history - despite being flawed as all are.

Their contributions are numerous and ever growing.

I'm sure there are some, but the writer should name a few, and I don't mean "was elected ..." or listing "was killed by a white person" as an achievment.

Here's a few major contributions by various white people: Invented the airplane, automobile, telephone, telegraph, locomotive, discovered penicillin, discovered the Americas, invented calculus, the latitude and longitude system, time keeping and the modern calendars, etc.

In Alabama today is Robert E. Lee day. Just saying. I think it’s Jackson, Lee and King day.
