Los Angeles County saw an average of 40 coronavirus deaths a day over the past week, the highest such rate in nearly 10 months, a sign that the prolific Omicron variant may be deadlier than many initially believed.
The county’s daily COVID-19 death rate has doubled in just a week, officials said. According to a Times analysis, the last time average daily deaths has been this high was for the seven-day period that ended on March 28, 2021.
The daily death tally in the county has climbed dramatically in recent days. On Tuesday, 15 deaths were reported; Wednesday, 39; Thursday, 45; Friday, 48; Saturday, 66, the highest number in more than nine months; and Sunday, 53.
“As deaths often lag behind surges in cases and hospitalizations, sadly, the increase in deaths does not come as a surprise, and tragically, we are prepared for even higher number of deaths in the coming weeks,” said L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer.

Daily deaths in NJ are way, way up also. It’s not delta, omicron is still dangerous to people with other comorbidities including young people.
No surprise about that statistic. Thousands of illegals have moved into Ca. who have never been tested or treated for Covid and intermix with natives. Thanks to Biden and Newsom all of this was predictable. The same is true about HCQ ad Ivm, had it been used since May of 2020 there would not be a Pandemic. Follow the money in respect to HCQ and IVM, possibly why Dr. Fauci is worth $10million. Big Pharma has made billions thanks to the support of Dr. Fauci.
Agreed there could be some Delta still out there, but, I doubt it is the major factor.
We know that infections are way up. Maybe a factor of 10. Yes, I know, case numbers (test positives) don’t quite reflect that, but, I’m pretty well convinced testing is not keeping up.
Next, maybe Omicron is 1/10 the case fatality rate as Delta.

But... 10 x 1/10 = same rate of fatalities as Delta...
