The San José City Council will vote Tuesday on requiring every household with a gun owner to have liability insurance coverage for their firearms and pay an annual fee – which would make San Jose the first city or state in the nation with such gun violence reduction proposals.

"While gun rights advocates argue that gun owners should not have to pay a fee to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms" Liccardo said the "2nd Amendment does not require the taxpayers to subsidize folks to own guns."

Twisted logic of the year award.

As constitutional as poll taxes or literacy tests. I’m sure that’ll be the general consensus and it’s 100% true.

Well, we allowed the Federal government to force everyone to get health insurance. I guess they think they can do this as well.

Kalifornia is a lost cause.

So...San Jose Mayor Liccardo wants the city to be sued. Which ones of his lawyer friends are in on this scam?

I think demanding that illegal immigrants have auto insurance would be more useful when these drunks kill and injure people all the time

Thinking that requiring insurance will reduce gun violence is a special kind of stupid.

Now, I realize that the legislators are looking to punish legal gun owners, but the “useful idiots’ that buy that “logic” are truly idiots.

“2nd Amendment does not require the taxpayers to subsidize folks to own guns.”

Unconstitutional.

"Hey DaQuaan, let's rob this mofo."

"Yo wait, you got liability insurance?"

Are the youth gangs going to pay the tax on the guns they use in their drive by shootings?

People who commit violent crimes don’t buy insurance but that’s not a fact they’ll let stand in their way, since the real objective is to harass gun owners.

I think congress should implement a tax on all elected officials at 99% and a wealth tax on them of 50% per year.

Might as well fight fire with fire.

One thing to keep in mind, for those owning guns which may pre-date registration requirements (or otherwise believe The Man doesn’t know you have it) - It’s very unlikely that you’ll get caught without insurance...until the moment you’re forced to use the gun. They you go to jail.

That’s why sitting back and letting Democrats take over the country is NOT such a good idea, even if a handful of people here think otherwise.

Politicians should be held liable for the consequences of their policies.

So once again they target legal law abiding gun owners or do they have a plan for targeting criminals and illegals with guns and I just missed seeing it?

While politicians are not being held liable for forcing bad medical decisions en masse on citizens, they need to sit down and shut up about making citizens liable for anything.

California is a one party state with the media being their lap dog. Every crazy idea gets hears and often made into law. There are no check or balance.
