Since replacing Breyer won’t change the balance of the court, and since there is no chance in hell that Biden will ever send the Senate a decent pick, why bother mustering the resources to fight it?
Just let it go through and fight elsewhere.
A GOP nom probably wouldn’t be any better.
That's not what Dems do, and that's why they keep winning. They fight for every inch.
Yeah, we will not get a conservative justice, but at least we could go for getting a non-Marxist.
I would argue that it is a political mistake to “let the nominee just go through” for several reasons:
1. The Republicans must show that they are willing and able to fight just as hard as the Democrats on every issue. The base needs to see this and not the usual rollover, spineless act;
2. By fighting hard against the nominee, they are staking out the price to be paid for radical nominations which might make a future Democrat President show some restraint in choosing picks (fuggedabout Biden his handlers will always make the most radical picks);
3. It is worthwhile to expose the nominee’s record to the public for purposes of diminishing their reputations and making them think twice about confirming the worst charges against them in their own decisions and choices.
