Since I didn't see the authors of the article cite any specifics, my guess is that they are referring to Trump's three marriages and rumored history of womanizing, or perhaps to his often acerbic vocal style.

But the barrier to a divorced president fell decades ago, and tolerating/forgiving someone's checkered past is not the same as condoning that behavior in the present or the future. It is a recognition that the importance of a president largely resides in his policies, and not to his past behavior (within limits, of course).

As for Trump's verbal excesses, most of his supporters tolerate them because they believe his policies outweigh them, especially considering the alternatives. Moreover, it's not as if the left doesn't engage in the same or worse.
