A likely poor jobs figure for January could prove temporary
The Associated Press ^ | February 3, 2022 | By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER (D-AP)

WASHINGTON (AP) — Last month, U.S. employers might have shed jobs for the first time in about a year, potentially raising alarms about the economy’s trajectory.

Yet even if the January employment report coming Friday were to show a deep loss of jobs, there would be little mystery about the likely culprit: A wave of omicron infections last month that led millions of workers to stay home sick, discouraged consumers from venturing out to spend and likely froze hiring at many companies — even those that want to fill jobs.

Still, most economists expect a relatively quick rebound in hiring, possibly as soon as this month. Nationally, reported omicron infections are tumbling. And many businesses are still desperate to hire: The number of job openings in late December reached nearly 11 million, just below a record set in July.

“Investors, policymakers and firm managers should essentially just write off the (January jobs) report as a one-time set of noise that will not alter the underlying strong trend in hiring and the tight labor market,” said Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM, a tax advisory firm.

Temporary? Is that like transient?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Lol, not surprised the Communist AP would try to spin one of the final nails in Biden’s coffin as a positive.

Wow! The “un-expectedly poor” January jobs report (coming to a neighborhood near you!) is going to be so bad that even the AP is writing excuses for it.

BEFORE the January jobs report is even released (and well before it can be ignored) they are already reporting excuses for it.

...there would be little mystery about the likely culprit: A wave of omicron infections last month that led millions of workers to stay home sick...

The mystery is how this fool connects the dots of someone taking a few sick days to employers firing people.

Would an employer fire someone for a few sick days when nominally so many places are already short staffed? Seems unlikely.

What are more likely significant contributing factors are the various vaccine mandates still in place. It would be interesting to have a better breakdown of which employment segments shed the most jobs. I'll bet you it was fields and companies still operating under vaccine mandates.

Seriously, not even Joseph Goebbels or Pravda back in the day would have had the balls to put out the whoppers we get from the press today.

BEFORE the January jobs report is even released

ADP's report came out yesterday. It is perhaps more accurate than the government report coming out tomorrow as I don't trust anything coming from government.

January is typically a slo month. Christmas was only several weeks ago. People now are focusing on paying down their credit cards.

The Associated Press is controlled by Marxist globalists. They spout constant propaganda to buttress Biden and advance the agenda.
