As a commoner rather than a royal Camilla appears intelligent-she obviously learned to be resourceful and able to make lemons into lemonade-Edwin Parker Bowles might have been a 2nd choice, but he was apparently glad to get her for a wife-and allowed her to be Charles’ mistress without making a fuss-probably there was some financial or other advantage for him to do that-then once Charles was divorced, they could stop the charade.
