President Joe Biden on Sunday said it is “probably premature” to remove coronavirus mask mandates, despite originally pitching “just” 100 days of masking prior to taking office.
During his lengthy interview, part of which aired on Super Bowl Sunday, Biden remarked about blue state governors who recently decided to lift mask restrictions in their states, calling it “probably premature” and a “tough call” to make.

I’m totally fine with the masks, the problem I have is that it seems like we had an unelected, unappointed, CNN contributor named Leana Wen who was calling the shots in a contradictory manner. First she says that fabric masks are facial decoration and that we all need to wear N95s, then she says a couple weeks later that we need to drop all the public health measures and just let it all hang out. I’m totally fine with masks so long as they don’t go nuts about it. I’m not ok with the leadership crisis we are experiencing because tech and media types have stopped being responsible and sensible humans.
In the upper echelons of society you had people publicly double masking, and them you also had these guys partying during lockdowns, full on Marie Antoinette “let them eat cake” style. It seems like the weird fads and disinformation are getting worse for that bunch, and that we have some sort of trickle down crazy going on. I know that California is ground zero for cults (Jim Jones was one) and and con artists (that weird guy who hobnobbed with the stars as a naturalist and ended up eaten by a bear). Having California as the center of American politics might possibly be a bad thing? Just putting that out there… Leana Wen seems like a case in point.
K-12 and college students are not “totally fine with the masks.” First of all, the virus is of almost zero risk to that age group.
Secondly, imagine trying to learn a foreign language—or electrical engineering taught by an Indian with a strong accent—when both teacher and student are masked.
Imagine playing basketball masked. Imagine going to your senior prom masked.
Masks are not OK for students.
