Four “Freedom Convoy” protesters with an arsenal of guns who were ready to “use force against the police” have been charged with conspiring to commit murder, Canadian authorities said.
The group were among 11 arrested on Monday at the now-cleared border blockade in Coutts, Alberta, just north of Montana, who were protesting the country’s COVID-19 restrictions, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said Tuesday in a statement.
Chris Carbert, 44, Christopher Lysak, 48, Jerry Morin, 40, and Anthony Olienick, 39, are facing the charges over threats made against the RCMP, the department said.
Carbert, Lysak, and Olienick yet to have a bail hearing and remain in jail, while Morin’s bail status is unknown, the CBC reported.
“The group was said to have a willingness to use force against the police if any attempts were made to disrupt the blockade,” the Alberta RCMP said in a statement.
The quartet is also facing charges of possession of a weapon and mischief to property over $5,000. Lysak faces an added charge of uttering threats.
Police seized a large trove of weapons from three trailers when arresting the four, including 13 long guns, handguns, multiple seats of a body army, high capacity magazine, a machete and loads of ammunition, cops said. It is unclear if all the weapons belong to the four.
“The group was said to have a willingness to use force against the police if any attempts were made to disrupt the blockade,” Alberta RCMP said in a statement Monday. “This resulted in an immediate and complex investigation to determine the extent of the threat and criminal organization.”

If it was the FBI equivalent of a false flag operation, I would not be surprised.
In other news, it’s suspected that some Canadians may have collected an arsenal at Lexington. Turdeau has ordered RCMP redcoats to seize it.
That would be my first thought.
Considering this happened on the border with Montana maybe the FBI slipped some weapons across the border.
There are certainly more than four people on this forum who shoot their mouths off about the “necessity” for violence in order to resolve the political issue of the day.
If we were in a similar position to the Canadian truckers, these posts would be trotted out by the left to make the rest of us look like we are terrorists. The left wouldn’t have to run a false flag operation.
Mama said NEVER post online bullshitting about being a tough guy who’s gonna do such-and-such to so-and-so. It’s for exactly that reason that posting such BS on FR will get you a timeout.
False flag?
Don't believe a word of it .. Canadian gestapo, more like.
Is this suppose to be an actual professionally written newspaper article or some sort of half wit blog?
I do not credit one single word of this report. This was a big set up.
As soon as we heard about this, we knew it was fake.
Really? Were they added to by someone else? Now who would want to do that?
While they should have been more careful and deposited their guns at the local gun shop, before they came across, I highly doubt that they had a plan like that.
See? Cops did it.
This is a set up.
False flag.
Either they are antifa actors or they were set up and framed.
All to try to discredit the movement and justify harsh retaliatory actions against the rest of the protest group across the country.
Apples and oranges. In the Canadian case it was not simply statements that were made, but physical guns that were collected. In your hypothetical case there were no physical weapons "planted".
In 6 months we will find out the 4 arrested were egged on by a 15 federal agents (or the Canuck equivalent) who provided the guns.
so far i got some guys who did nothing violent may have said something that scared the RCMP so they got charged with saying something mean that the RCMP didn’t like. btw, they found some guns that could belong to them or someone else so that’s also in the charge.
boy, i guess the RCMP can arrest anyone in Canada for anything they want to arrest them for.
